How many of you shop local?

Tried to support our local grocery store chain yesterday
Went to get a family sized box of oats and some cheerios for kid to snack on.
Box of oats was listed at $9.30 and cheerios at nearly $7
Like I understand you have to charge a little more for being a smaller store, but I couldn't justify spending $17 on two items that I got for $9 at walmart. I'm big fan of supporting local business, but I don't understand why anyone would shop at your store when you are charging people double the price of Walmart, Target or Aldi

I’m in Texas. H-E-B is local.

Cereal is expensive anywhere

The trick is to not buy items like those. There's tons of other items they probably sell that are within reason and maybe even sometimes cheaper.
I buy a lot of meat local because it's actually a good price and much better quality.

Lots of people probably go to Rouses around here. Thats where I go. Although their steak selection has gotten worse and worse. First no more wagyu now no more prime. Unreal.

No local grocery chains are left, just the standard regional stuff.
We are getting a second Costco, so will stick with them

It depends on what I am buying.
Pet food-walmart or amazon. If walmart, I might grab a few things we need like dressings, hot sauce, rice, canned goods.
Alcohol-local shop or local grocery while buying groceries
Meat/Seafood-local. Not local either Fresh Market or occasionally whole foods.
Hardware-Home Depot. Local sucks

I buy meat local because the local store has an actual butcher that will cut it for it.
I buy clothes and shoes at local downtown stores

I know it's not local, but Fresh Market usually has a nice steak selection and certain cuts on sale every weekend. That's been my go-to lately. Or Costco.

I buy most of my lumber and sheet goods from a local outfit. They're a little higher than the big box stores, but their quality is always better and they load this shite for me. Plumbing and electrical of any amount or more than basics I buy local. Fertilizer and such as well.
All of those type places still have a guy who asks, "What can I help you with?" when I walk in. That goes a long way.

They have arguably the best meat in the city across the board. I love going to that store. I feel like theres never anyone in there though.

I just left there maybe a half hour ago to grab some steaks for the grill tonight. It wasn't very crowded. You also get pretty good sales on some cuts with their free reward program.
I agree. Their meat department is excellent.

Harps are regional AG stores. I much prefer them to Walmart. There is a smaller independent AG near me that gets most of my business though (very similar to Oak Point in Central/Watson).

Sullivan’s
Their regular prices are not competitive, but they still do a weekly sales circular and have “one day sales” every few weeks. I’ve bought a lot of items from these, mostly meat. One day sale yesterday included 73/27 ground beef for $2.39/lb. Compare that to anyone you choose.
I also buy from my locally owned ACE hardware store much more often than any Lowe’s or Home Depot.

I pretty much stick to 4 stores in my area.
Costco for many of the bulk items and stuff the local stores don't have.
Rouses for smaller amounts of things that will stay fresh while being used.
Roberts when I shop their sales.
Winn-Dixie for a few of the things I prefer to get from there.
As far as local products I buy:
Blue Plate Mayo
CDM Coffee & Chicory
Savoies and Richards sausage
Tabasco products
Tony Chachere's Seasoning
Local Produce as much as possible
As for hardware, local stores are almost all gone now, so Lowes or Home Depot.
Westwego Seafood Lot or local seafood outlets.
Lumber is usually bought at Carruth Lumber Co. that is only 3 blocks from my house and has prices competitive with the big box stores.
Plumbing needs are gotten from the local supply store here in Mid-City since the salesmen there know their business and can get what I need quickly. Not like some yoyo in Home Depot who points you toward an aisle and that's it.

Harris Teeter and Food Lion are our local/regional grocery stores.
Food Lion is cheaper and we have one 3 minutes from our neighborhood.
Harris Teeter is the uppity store. Closest one is 10 mins away. We go to both.
