Covington proper … got a full charge on the golf cart batteries.
Fire Dept doing well checks on our most vulnerable.
PD going double shift starting this evening.
Public Works securing personal homes and families - will hunker down in town till winds drop below 40mph. Then assess damage and begin clean-up.
I get a title during storm events: Incident Commander. Has a nice ring to it

OP has a legitimate reason to stay, but why do people want to ride the storm out? It seems risky and with 0 benefits to me. Im not trying to criticize anybody’s decision, I’m just genuinely curious.

My FIL has a large plot of land around Cenla and a nice house, so I'd be fine if I lived in BR traveling and having a place to rest my head.
But if that wasn't the case, and I was just going somewhere to stay in some average hotel, if I thought we weren't going to die, I see the benefit in staying put. But I'm a particular person who gets stressed out easily if my routine is altered with a less than desirable alternative.

Here in Sliraq, riding it out. We didn’t flood during Katrina. We have a generator, a smoker, and food to last us for months.

Damn, a lotta T.D.ers in Folsom. We're staying as well
For my fellow Folsom baws, if any cottonmouths wash up in your yards during the storm, give me a buzz and I’ll come snatch them up.

Hammond. Ridin’. Hopefully The Crescent’s open tonight for a drink during the calm before the storm

You get a raise for that title?

What about “widen bogue falaya bridge happen fixer guy coordinator”? Can you assume that title anytime soon?

We are in Ponchatoula and pretty much can't leave. The first night after hurricane Katrina the people living close to our neighborhood started breaking into the homes of people who left.
Riding it out in Ponchatoula as well.
I don't think my neighborhood will have that issue. Everyone here is armed and those of us staying are looking out for those who left.

Mandeville, took the long weekend to go to parents house in Ga to check on them. Left yesterday at 8:30PM and did the midnight ride. Not a big fan of being with out electricity. Hope WSTCOOP has my area tightened up by the time I return????. If anything happens to the house, won’t make a dam bit of difference if I’m there or not.

Earlier this year I brought problem to Congressman Scalise's attention. He currently has $5M for it in bill in the House. Long way to geaux, but at least it's on DC's radar:
BF Bridge Overview
And, FWIW, it's DOTD's jurisdiction, not CovLA.
Widening the bridge … that'd be worth a raise

scheduled for three HOA Patrol shifts this weekend. You think I’m leaving town
We need more men like you here on the wall. Many are called, few are chosen.

We were going to leave, but changed our minds after finding a relative with a NG generator and space to put us. It's less stressful than a 7-10 hour car trip overnight with a baby and a cat. 1% risk of being seriously hurt by the storm vs 100% chance of the worst car trip ever.

I hope you boys got your chainsaws ready, if this thing comes in at a 4 there will be more trees down then in Katrina. I'm about to go give the Husky and Echo a pep talk.
