The damage from trees falling on houses in Tangi is unreal. Both downtown areas had tons of trees down. I do not know much about the flooding, but I have read other places that parts of 22 that never flooded before, took on some water

West of SLU’s campus in the little downtown we love is gone. Trees everywhere and tons of impassable streets

My folks are in Slidell (Quail Ridge). My mom spoke to a Parish official this morning who said that there are upwards of 10 big poles down on S. Military Rd/Shortcut Rd and major transmission line damage over/in water and as a result - That area will take longer than most to get power restored. Not sure how that translates to in actual time - but if you are living in that area and are currently staying somewhere with AC... Extend your stay a few days.

ETA: grammar fix

Anyone know if they still have gas there? We haven’t been able to find gas in Slidell the last couple of days.

hammond airport area report

all the poles and lines are down on airport road, old covington highway (and on my road, south coburn). looks like all the trees went thru a blender.

far worse than katrina.
it will be weeks and weeks without power.

old covington hwy has trees blocking lanes but the water has receded for the moment. no services at the exit, even the waffle house is closed

the area is uninhabitable at the moment

Still don’t have it in the Bush area. Dollar General and Hog Heaven in Sun came back a few hours ago. I’m not too far from there but, we’re still waiting.

Heading back in to Mandeville Wed morning from the east to meet contractor, take insurance pics, assess damage, and secure what I can bf heading back out again Thurs (tree through roof). Anything I need to know heading in? Gassing up in AL or Pascagoula. Bringing water, food, and supplies. Areas to avoid? Basically need I12, Hwy 59, Lonesome Road, and Greenleaves Blvd.

ETA: would it be a good idea to come down I59 through B'ham instead of my usual I65 to 10 route through Mobile? Hearing I10 west through MS is hell.

I did it today. Leave early, as in 4am early. Traffic was a cluster frick, especially through MS and LA.

It’s clear I-10 to 12 to 59 or 1088 to 190 as long as it’s early in the morning .

Get gas before Gulfport.

I rode the storm out at home (I live off Lonesome Rd) left Monday afternoon and am now in Fairhope, AL.

All roads are clear (I-10, Hwy 59, Lonesome, and Greenleaves). Gas stations are open throughout MS and now in LA.

You’re more than fine driving 65 to 10
