Obama was your average politician whose opponents spread a lot of false information about (I say opponents because it wasn't just the right. Hillary Clinton's camp probably put more stuff out there about him than anyone when they were both fighting for the Democratic bid).
I didn't agree with everything he did, but I think he was an okay president. If you take away all of the bullshite that people were convinced to believe, he was overall an average president.
Just remember what people believed when he got elected. The morning after he was elected I went into work. I'd always be one of the first there and right after me was this lady on the other side of me in a different department. She would get in and call her friend or someone every morning and talk about her personal life as if no one was able to hear.
That morning she told that person that her husband said they would have to start getting ready because 3 years from then no one would own property because the government will end up taking it from everyone and everyone will be assigned to a small place to live. She was dead serious.. I thought she had to be joking at first, but she kept on talking about it. And there are a lot of people who have some crazy idea about Obama.. Its amazing the shite people are willing to believe.

I grew up in NELA, so yes. It was around me. Luckily, my family wasn't racist on my Mom's side. I didn't really ever meet my Dad's side in Mississippi, but was told that our family, on that side, was a part of the whole Mississippi Burning ordeal, in Philadelphia. I have researched it and can not find my last name in any of the recorded info. I'm hoping his family just lied to him.

I grew up in northeast Louisiana. My mom wasn't racist, but most of my friend's parents were.
My house was the only white household that welcomed my black high school football teammates in to our home.

Yes, entire county. I'm not northern WI either
I grew up in West Texas. We had 1 black kid in the whole school. And they were both half.

I grew up in Upstate New York, not exactly the most diverse place in the world. I don't recall it being particularly racist at the time. Now I would say the racism up there is a little more overt. I wouldn't single out any specific ethnic or racial group as being more or less racist than any other. For example, my own experiences being married to a black woman have shown black people to be just as opposed to interracial marriage as white people, and for mostly the same reasons. Racism is racism, doesn't matter to us what color you are, you're still an a-hole.

My wife's stepfather is overtly racist. He's one of those guys who says there are n__s and there are black people. He "don't like no damn n__s". He makes no effort to hide it around our kids. I like him but his racism always bothered me.....
until one Easter I sat down with his mom for an extended conversation. She was very old, sick, and didn't have long to live. She was just sitting by herself off the side and I never really knew her so I figured I'd strike up a conversation as I like hearing stories from old folks. HOLY shite. She made my FIL seem like a saint. She literally HATED black people. There were absolutely zero good black people, they were all n__s. She blamed a n__r for killing her husband (FIL's dad), job issues, troubles her kids got into...you name it, black folks were the scapegoat.
This was a woman born in the early 1900's in bumfrick south Georgia in a fricking cotton barn or some shite. I've never met anyone more racist in my life. As bad as my FIL is when it comes to race, it seems he's taken a more neutral position than his mother did

I remember be really young, probably 5 or 6 so this would be about 1975-76, passing through a small town named Altoona in Etowah Co., AL. We stopped at a red light and there were Klansmen in full hoods and robes handing out Klan pamphlets.
I’m 49 now and have lived in Alabama all my life except the year I lived in Alaska and the four years I was active duty. That’s the one and only time I’ve ever seen the Klan in public.

My relatives were all NY Nj Jews.
I never heard any anti black words from my immediate family but an uncle owned a pawn shop in the bronx and was robbed a lot. Always by blacks.
After one such robbery, over a game of cards he expressed gratitude his son, a fireman had moved to suburbs and bemoaned the destruction of the bronx by blacks.
My mother told us kids she would not approve if we dated a black. No one did.
Thats about it.

Don't kid yourself- everyone is racist in some form or fashion, including blacks and most importantly- liberals! They are the biggest racist hypocrites!!

I have an uncle- who I fortunately seldom see- that throws around the n word in his every day speech. He was n that and n this at my father’s funeral years ago. My grown boys really don’t know the man and they kept asking me who the hell is that guy and why is he talking like that. It was offensive to them that this guy was talking like that in general and specifically at my dad’s funeral. Asshat.

As a general rule blacks and whites have different cultures and I think because of this they prefer to live among others who are like minded.
Except just about every culture hates the black culture. Whites,Asians,Mexicans,Italians all despise the black culture. Why do you think that is?

Small town was split between the white and the black sections. Some crossover occurred here and there.
