Republicans supporting Russia, who would've thought?

I don't support Russia and I'm not even much of a Trump supporter or fan of most of the Republican party.

I do find the 4 years of Russian boogeyman stories fairly laughable, especially coming from the party that was making secret cash payments to fricking Iran

Honestly it's all just exhausting. Every form of in-home entertainment has been infiltrated by politics and social justice opinions.

I used to scroll Facebook / Instagram casually and now it's just politics or social issues, with every comment section filled with people arguing back and forth.

I can't watch the news anymore, it's just political hit pieces and biased view points.

Even network television is taken over by politics. Sunday they played the MTV VMA's on 12 channels and that whole thing was an anti-Trump parade full of victim mentality.

Sports used to be a good release from it all, just men competing towards a shared goal, but we all know what that has turned into nowadays.

To be honest, the OT Lounge is the only place I feel like I can talk to sane people who aren't afraid to say what their really thinking, and that's saying a lot for some of you.

I'm tuning out of television, sports, news etc more and more.

My dad hasn't even owned a television in 7-8 years.

I share much of this sentiment. I feel as if the country has abruptly, unexpectedly, and inexplicably abandoned all semblance of reason and objectivity. Even basic principles like the rule of law and freedom of speech have been jettisoned. It is all vehement, partisan squabbling. I find it incredibly depressing.

Boogeyman? While I think some of the histrionics from some on the left has been a bit much, the Russian influence campaign on the 2016 election has been confirmed by multiple investigations. The latest one being the Senate Intelligence Committee that is chaired by a Republican. So it's not a boogeyman, because it actually happened. And the Senate one confirmed it is happening currently for this election.

even if you are right.....this is likely a case of “the boy who cried wolf”. 2016-2019 was Russia Russia Russia on every news station 24/7.

Collusion was the most retarded mainstream conspiracy theory, ever.

Heres a fact for you. Russians, Chinese and Americans have been trying to disrupt each others politics since the 40s, it took 70 years for you to catch on.

Yeah I’m sick of it all.
As soon as we get some cooler weather I’m going to be camping a bunch to get away from all of the stupidity

I pretty much only watch LSU and the Saints but if they start shoving politics down my throat I'll tune them out too.

Does anyone reading this have a clue on what is going to happen?

I did not read the entire thread responses, but the 20th century saw two world wars, a massive pandemic, global economic turmoil, the rise of communism (purges in Russia, Asia, etc.), systematic annihilation of groups of humans, and the list goes on.

We are more aware of the bad things happening today, and more sensitive to human suffering. The 20th century was not a nice century. And the centuries before were even worse.

So, is it bad today? It's all relative. Someone time-warped from the year 1900 would probably think today is paradise.

You mean, giving them their own money back that we seized in 1979. The money we'd been ordered to return years and years ago but never did? It was a $400M advanced payment by the Shah to the US government for arms that was cancelled when they took US hostages. The case went to the Hague and we were found responsible for interest on that $400M, bringing the total to over $1B owed.

There was nothing secret about the payments.

Again, do your research.
