Back in my day it wasn't that big of a deal to not wear one. Then cops started cracking down on their revenue collection... err... I mean... safety scheme, and it wasn't worth the hassle not to wear it. It's smarter to wear the belt anyway I guess.

I wore it on and off til 2004. State trooper gave me a seatbelt ticket one day and I noticed he had a LSU national championship ring...he said everyone affiliated with he team got one...he was one of CLM bodyguards during the games.

I always buckle up. I feel physically uneasy and "loose" if I am not buckled in. I don't even take it off in airplanes either. I hate cabs because they tuck in the seatbelts in some of them for whatever reason.

My mom still doesn't buckle up, but she lives in NH where 18+ is not required. I still give her shite every time I am back there.
I may do it every once in a while when I am back visiting, but will always buckle up if I knew I was going onto any of the major roads around town.

I never really wore them at all until the law was passed...I still don't like the idea of the government mandating things like that, but I have to admit, I feel a lot safer with it on now and never ride in a vehicle without buckling up...

I bought a Jeep back in '93 that I would take the doors and top off of. Only a moron would ride around without a belt when his vehicle has no doors and top.
Became a habit then that I still carry to this day.
