I would have easily been dead by now. Pneumonia a couple times, accident that I would have died from without modern medicine, had to have a medical procedure to correct a problem that would have eventually crippled or killed me by now.

Some, for sure. Maybe more simply because of anti-biotics and sanitation, especially during surgeries.

How about advances in work place safety? Think about guys working in mines or mills. If they didn't die quickly in an accident there was always toxic environmental factors that could kill them young..
