She was getting pretty wound up in those last few minutes. Decisions were being made about one groomsman walking up two bridesmaids or me walking up one.

Most had been out all night with the groom and were pretty fricked up. I don't know what they were thinking!

I had the good sense to bail out and get in bed about 4:00am. My parents heard me come in the house and got out of bed to get on my arse because "You have to be at the church by 9:15!!!" Little did they know what was still going on...

My oldest brother was upset when he was only an usher for our middle brother's wedding. He shouldn't have been since it was a small wedding, there's a 4 year age gap, and my brother only had 3 groomsmen with his wife only having a maid of honor. However, his reaction makes me think that I better include both brothers in my wedding party or else he'll pitch a fit because he's still pretty bitter about it.

I got pissed when my only sister got married a few years ago and I wasn't asked to be a groomsman. She asked me to be an usher instead and I took that as a slap in the face. We've always been close so it sort of hurt. I didn't want to stand in the back of church while the rest of my family was seated together with front row seats. I politely told her that if I wasn't a groomsman that I would rather not be an usher and sit with the rest of the family. She flew off the handle at me for insisting this so I swallowed my pride and stood in the back of church the entire ceremony as she wished

frick that

I have noticed a trend recently where more and more brides are leaving someone out of the wedding party that by all accounts, should have been included. I think some brides these days get a kick out of the drama created when someone gets left out.

All I care about is getting the invite to the wedding and its open bar. The rest is just gravy.

Why didn't you just go sit with them? I sat with my family during the ceremony when I was an usher and just got up a minute before the end to catch the door.

My dad's entire side of the family (except my Dad and Grandmother) didn't speak to me for MONTHS because I asked my cousin to do the guest book instead of being a bridesmaid. They were mad because my two cousins on my Mom's side were included, but I'm much closer to them. I actually thought they would be appreciative because they were forever talking about how they didn't have any money and I didn't think they'd want to take on the expense. My aunt was going to boycott my wedding, but my Dad told her she had to go. They even refused to speak to me a few months later at my Dad's wedding (which was basically just family). Awkward.

Had no idea why they were mad at me until a few years later when my stepmom finally told me.
