How many of those recently accused of sexual harassment have actually denied the charges?

Reading Lauer's statement, it comes off as very standard among the current apologies.

quote:

There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions. To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry. As I am writing this I realize the depth of the damage and disappointment I have left behind at home and at NBC. Some of what is being said about me is untrue or mischaracterized, but there is enough truth in these stories to make me feel embarrassed and ashamed.

I regret that my shame is now shared by the people I cherish dearly. Repairing the damage will take a lot of time and soul searching and I’m committed to beginning that effort. It is now my full time job. The last two days have forced me to take a very hard look at my own troubling flaws. It’s been humbling. I am blessed to be surrounded by the people I love. I thank them for their patience and grace.

I'm sorry for what I did. I now realize it is much worse than I thought it was. It's not as bad as the media reports say, but I did some bad stuff, etc.

From what I remember of the previous statements from Weinstein, CK, Leon Weiseltier, Mark Halperin, etc, it seems as if this is the standard template.

Has anyone actually gone full out and denied everything? I believe Jeff Tambor may have, but I can't think of anyone else, except Roy Moore who has blamed gays, bisexuals, and socialists

There's no reason anyone should admit to anything, ever.

It is becoming impossible for a man to come on to a woman with all of these ladies accusing men of sexual harassment. If this shite continues humans are going to become asexual and extinct.

O'Reilly's paid out millions in settlements. I think that negates his denial.

It seems like most have capitulated to the allegations.

Possibly, but could also be a business decision.

I unequivocally deny all allegations bought against me. Women scare me too much to approach them. I'm fine with jerking it in the bushes.

Moore, Trump, and Piven are the only ones that come to mind. i guess you could throw clinton in there but that's not recent.

i don't want to come across as Partisan as Moore is a hack and Trump is a moron... but these didn't pop up until they were weeks away from an election. that just screams bull shite to me. Trump's accusers disappeared as soon as he was elected and i suspect Moore's will as well. Clinton's accusers kept pressing the issue well into his second term and into his wife's run.

Meh, I think you'll be fine I'd you avoid buying them sexual toys and walking around naked in their presence.

See, that's the point of my thread. Almost no one is really fighting it. So it isn't as if this is some gigantic extortion scam. If someone accused me of something I didn't do, my immediate answer would be something like "I have never sexually assaulted anyone. Ever. The claim by __ is completely false and slanders my character. I sympathize with all victims of sexual assault and I am very sad that the false accusations by __ are going to lead to some people questioning future victims." Done. It wouldn't be anything like Lauer's apology or anyone of the other ones.

Other than Piven and Tambor (maybe), everyone else has given some flimsy comment and apology. Why? It's likely in their self interest due to some hidden evidence (paper trail of payouts, internal communication about their behavior by neutral individuals, etc).

Moore's in some alternate reality, but I would say that his initial attempts at denial gave more credence to his accusers than anything else.

He said something about how he was a product of the swinging 60s and how he was learning to be less of a bully and was giving scholarship money to NYU or somewhere.

I think he actually went after the NRA
Terrible statement.

The sad truth that nobody wants to admit is that a lot of the time the only difference between sexual harrasment and harmless flirting is whether or not she thinks the guy is sexy.

It looks like with Lauer there is evidence which has him dead-to-rights like texts and dick pics. Moore's stuff is so far in the past he has plausible deniability.

Not to turn this into a poliboard thread, but I just overheard a chick in my office say that Dems are admitting to stuff because they "man up" and are the adults in the room, while the Republicans are scum who just deny everything.
