I'll give a local one from my home state.

Smithfield Hams. One of the most prominent ham companies in the country and can be found even down here in Louisiana (thank god) was recently purchased by a Chinese conglomerate. Of course none of the branding changed so I'd imagine most people don't know that when they buy their products, it's helping fund a major Chinese business to an extent.

What other companies are owned by Chinese conglomerates that barely anybody would think or know about? Also does this make any of y'all feel uneasy having a foreign enemy purchasing private American businesses? It makes me feel like if Russia had bought Ford during the cold war or something similar.

I don't know but I'd imagine they are everywhere. Companies, academia influence, Hollywood, media.

I had no idea about this. I'm disappointed because they have my favorite theaters.

Damn that's crazy. I wonder how many people buy GE appliances have no idea it's not even a part of GE anymore. Just a logo.

And they're terrible arse people.

They were hoarding over 300,000 N95 masks at the plant here in Louisville so they could keep their workers on the line. They finally donated about half to the local hospitals.

Hong Kong

They are the good guys.
It may hurt the economy some but I think it’s best for National Security if laws are passed prohibiting American businesses from conducting business in China or with Chinese labor, and all Chinese products should be banned in the States.
