When people say they need a year to plan a wedding, obviously they don’t mean they need hours every day for a year to plan. They have to do shite in advance, regardless of how long the actual planning takes. The dress alone took several months to come in, then several more weeks for alterations.
That said, I would pretty much rather eat glass than ever plan another wedding. Such a colossal waste of money.

Maybe add a day or two if people don't respond or pick up the phone. Though I'd argue that's a reason to move on to the next in line.

Probably 2 weeks. It really depends. If you're the type of person who will just book any venue, caterer, cake, band, restaurant, etc.. then you could probably do it in a couple days.

Planning a wedding? That's what the bride, her mom, and friends do. As the groom we have two jobs:
1. Pick the type of grooms cake you want.
2. Do exactly what she she wants and generally stand there and smile on your wedding day.
The wedding day is her day. That day really is about her. Girls spend their whole life thinking about and planning that day. Truth be told most have every detail worked out in her head years before she even meets you. It's your job to make she she gets her day.

I got lucky on the second in that regard but I learned from the first marriage to put my foot down pertaining to what might be changeable and what will not be changeable before saying "I do" to the second wife. She accepted that and 17 years later we be good.
