Been almost two weeks since an accident, we cannot do anything to move the process of getting our car fixed and recovering damages because we are waiting on the other guy's insurance company to obtain the crash report. Happened in Ascension Parish. Seems like an unreasonable amount of time to have to wait when rental cars/expenses are adding up. Am I being impatient?

shite, it can take a while, and lots of times there is hardly anything on it. You can call but it would be better if you go down there.

It can take a while for the INS company to get it. Sometimes it is much faster for you to get and fax/send direct

Was just wondering what the typical timeline was for these types of things. Seems slow.

Had a similar incident in Ouachita Parish occur a few years back. After a week of my attorney saying he had yet to receive a accident report I called the sheriff's office to see when the responding officer would be there and left a message for him to call me. He called, and told me that the paperwork had been submitted, so I drove up to Monroe and had them print me a copy and faxed it to my attorney and to my insurance company. If all your attorney and insurance company did was place a request before the report had been submitted it's probably on file but was just never sent to them. Give the reporting office a call or stop by and get it, because chances are a government employee just didn't bother to send a simple fax and it will be overlooked until they make another request in another week or so.

10 days minimum, crash reports are diffrent than a normal report. Call the department that wrote it to see where it is at in the process.

A lot of companies order the reports through third party services and it can take some time.

Call and see if the report is ready, if so bring your $7.50 or $10 and go grab it. Will be much quicker.

Lies...depending on the department, their policy on getting reports in, etc. I'm sure it differs from place to place depending on the department.

I would call yourself and ask if you can get pick it up. That probably your quickest way to get it in the correct hands. Chances are it's been done for days.

Text me, I need help. I am infuriated with the entire situation. I managed to quell my fury to make this post sound less dramatic

First it depends on who did the report. Sheriff, City or State Police?
