FCC rules only apply to over the air broadcasts (networks like ABC, CBS, nbc), so basically all cable shows can say whatever they want on them, but have been scared to not do it by advertisers

I was watching an old Battle of the Network Stars and Gil Gerard, who played Buck Rodgers of the 25th century was talking about his work with special olympics. It was weird to hear him speak about “one retarded boy that becam a special friend.”
