And they'll still charge you $12/day to park in the old garage!

Lol at the people saying look to see if parking is available beforehand? I’ve flown more in my lifetime then the most and I have never had to check a parking map before.

That said I have never had a problem parking out of the new airport. I have only flown out of it 3 times thiough.

The lack of parking at the new airport is pretty ridiculous. I fly out of there every other week and it’s getting tougher to find parking.
You shouldnt have to park at the old airport or further down vets and shuttle over.

I am in agreement with you. I always thought KCI was the worst airport in the US, but the new MSY is easily the worse airport in the US.

I don't give a frick who wants to say differently, but I will go the my grave believing airport board members made money on the building of this new airport.

Read the aviation board website and it states no board members are paid or receive anything from serving on the board but then the MFers have reserved prime parking on the 4th floor of short term parking.

Airport employees park in the parking garages thus the reason there are no spots available for consumers.

frick ALL THOSE MFers!!! Ask me how I feel about this POS airport and the people who run it.

They should completely take it away from NO connections, especially since it is in another city entirely. Kenner may not be perfect, but there is no way they do a worse job than Cityofyes.

You can’t take Louis Armstrong away from New Orleans, even it keeps you from living in a wonderful world.

They should require airport workers park off grounds instead of allowing them to park in the parking garages with badges

I travel weekly and one day this scenario will catch me. I only use short term to park and it has been close to capacity of late. I don’t know if they didn’t build enough spots or what.

Believe the plan for the additional parking garage was put on hold due to covid.

Hell, they weren't originally planned to do the longterm garage until demand showed the need abiut 2 years before the move.

I think this is where the disconnect is. MSY has multiple parking lots at the new and old airport. It would be wise to check for availability to know which lots have available space before just driving up to them. With that said, I have flown out of the new airport a handful of times, never checked for parking, and never had issues finding a spot. Could just be an unusually busy time right now.

Thought the everyday workers still parked over there behind the rental garage.

I also fly out weekly and short term parking is nearly impossible to find a spot. I used to pay a monthly fee and so there was always a spot kept open for the people who paid this monthly fee. When passing bonds for the new airport, the board members decided to do away with these monthly fee agreements. Like I said before frick these board members.....they are mirror images of the shite running the city of New Orleans

Really it should be connected to Chicago, since Louis Armstrong left New Orleans as fast as he could and never looked back.

Is it normal to open a new airport without direct interstate exit/entrance ramps?
That's some specifically Louisiana dumb shite there.

Although it sucks, there is ample parking, you just didn't leave early enough to be able to park at the old lot if the new garage was full.

Board members had to get the airport built in order to collect their side money from the contractors and before their terms on the board ended

If the Airport waited on an off ramp they would never build a new terminal.

We can't get another bridge, or loop, built in one of the worst traffic cities in the country with the way LADOTD and La government works.
