Bruh, I get here an hour & a half before our admin gets here. It's the only productive time I have before she gets in here and starts running her trap and trying to explain all her life's problems for hours on end. 
There's a fine line between being polite and "Uh huh"ing forever while acting interested in somebody's bullshite drama and telling them to get the frick out. It's a position of need because she answers the phone and is a barrier to cold call sales people and people I don't want to talk to, but dammit man

ETA: I swear to God my daughter can talk nonstip for minutes at a time without pausing or breathing. My wife gets mad at me for interrupting her. My response is she doesn't even take time to breathe so I can get a word in.

I think what astounds me more is the NEED for office drama. If things are going well for any longer than 2 weeks, one woman will find some reason to be pissed at another and rally some to her side...it never fails

My wife will often start a conversation and usually within 2-3 minutes I ask her for the gist of the conversation, not the full-on unabridged version that recalls EVERY detail of whatever she's going on about.
It's amazing how she can get to the point without all the minute details that makes a 2 minute conversation turn into 30 minutes of verbal diarrhea.

Mine will elaborate thinking she's painting the picture while providing no context at all. Now, I'm left with more questions than before, which, in turn, gets her aggravated with me because I didn't understand her convoluted explanation.

My phrase after the first 1-2 minutes is, "so anyway......" which will usually fast forward my wife to the last and only relevant portion of the story.
sometimes it feels rude, but I have ADHD and haven’t been on meds for it in years...I just don't have the ability to tune in to a whole female story

They feed on gossip and drama. It energizes their battery. On the flip side I feel like my battery is completely drained as I stagger out of the office.

Even worse, when you are passively listening, and still doing something else like watching tv or scrolling, they'll say
"See you weren't even listening!"
And then you can repeat back what they said word for word
