Other than St Martin (which has an interesting history of division) I can't think of another parish that you have to leave to get to another part.

St Martin is two completely different pieces ! At least Jefferson Parish is somewhat continuous in shape.

It’s because of the accents. Grand Isle natives sound nothing like Lafourche natives.

What kind of fricked up map is this? Where the hell did Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurespas go?

Probably because when Jefferson Parish lines were drawn 200 years ago, there weren't any roads and people were getting around by boat in that area to go to the barrier islands.

Not sure how many little fishing villages were spread out around the islands and land that used to be in Barataria Bay before we levee'd the river and the land started eroding away. I know of Manila Village and sure there were probably others. Just like Grand Isle, they all would've been getting around mostly by boat.

Ascension parish. You have to drive through a small piece of St. James to get to donaldsonville.

You have to go through St. James Parish (Sunshine Bridge) to get from Sorrento/Gonzales to Donaldsonville (Both in Ascension Parish).

I thought everyone knew this. It's part of JP because of our corrupt government in with the Mob and governing the waterways and trafficking south of NOLA. Google is your friend.

Well, if you're Jesus, you wouldn't need to swim.

You really think the habit should be to redraw parish lines every few decades because of new technology?

Ferries and boats moved most commerce. Owning both sides of the river would be more advantageous than just one side.
