So is mine. Tonight. Why are you worried about it?

Or you just bored and needed something to post about?

I find it to be quite the opposite. Very relieving and freeing to me.

Scientology apparently stole this idea from Catholics & they call it "auditing". Usually used for blackmail later by them

Shouldn't you reconcile with God through prayer and not a priest? I've also never understood praying to Mary. I thought Jesus was the way to God. To each their own I guess.

It is. I've done a little research on this praying to Mary (and other saints) stuff because it bothered me too. Catholics aren't worshipping Mary but asking her for intercession (at least the ones that know what they're doing). Correct me if I'm wrong, Catholics.

She's in the second grade. Her sins consist of talking back to mom and dad, scuffling with friends and siblings, sneaking a cookie.

She can sit in front of the priest or on the other side of the screen. Either way it's a few hail Marys a couple our fathers and a try to do better by your family and friends.

You are correct. I once had a discussion with a non-denominational(?) about Mary and Saints. There is a misconception that they are being prayed too. It is exactly intercession.
He then asked why even pray through them. I asked if he ever asked a friend to pray for him. He said yes, and I explained it's pretty much the same thing. But if you believe the Saint(person) is in Heaven and next to the creator then why not get some inside help.
(If you don't believe than to each his own)

Confession comes from John 20:21-23. It's the time Jesus gave some else the ability to forgive sins besides himself doing it. Catholics then trace priest hood back to the Apostles and that this gift has been passed down from them.

Once again if you don't believe in a higher being or Jesus or whatever cool. I am just putting out some info.

To be fair it's not blackmail in the Catholic Church. You're not required to pay anything, it's between you and the priest and the confidentiality privilege has been contested multiple times in courts.

A priest, if you commit a crime, will require you to render unto Caesar though and turn yourself in as part of Penance to obtain absolution.

Hubbard and his cohorts just like fleecing the dumb and infiltration of the government.

Everyone forgets that Jesus was Jewish and the best way to get a Jew to do something is get his mom nagging.

Catholic guilt has nothing on Jewish moms.

The Sacrament of Penance is biblically justified.
As an adult convert to Catholicism, I can say from experience that it's a good thing and meaningfully different from any reconciliation I experienced before.

Like many things Christian, it hasn't been tried and found wanting, but instead been found difficult and left untried.

Is that what we called 1st confession when words didn't hurt so much?

I'm a former catholic and new never used this term back when I was growing up. Haven't been catholic since 82.

Heard a priest once say that listening to children's first confessions was like being stoned to death with popcorn.
