No. No they are not.

Harvard has long examined more than just gpa and test scores.

But I’m sure you weep for all the Jews, Asians, and blacks that were denied because of the alumni factor.

If you sky screamers are ok with colleges choosing admissions based on race, then I’m guessing you’d be ok with shutting down EEOC and letting businesses do the same when hiring people.

He's definitely intelligent.

But he's never given me evidence of being "top decile of Harvard applicants" intelligent.

If Harvard admitted students based solely on the applicant scoring in the top decile of an "academic index" (=test scores + HS performance), the racial/ethnic composition of its freshman class would be expected to change as follows:

White -6%
Black -94%
Hispanic -82%
Asian +108%

AP Frank agrees with this

Many Asian’s chance in life does not match their test scores and grades. The latter is artificially inflated by a maniacal obsession in many of these families with academic success, it doesn’t reflect the potential of the individual.

I guarantee if you took the IQ of the average white person (or likely black or Hispanic person) with a perfect score on their SAT and compared it to The average Asian you would see a significant difference. Same thing with success after college.

I don’t blame Harvard for taking that into account.

You act like Harvard is admitting people with 3.1 GPAs and average SAT scores. Their applicant pool is the very definition of exceptional, having a 4.0+ GPA and a perfect score on the SAT or ACT only means you have some chance of admission. Everyone of those admitted regardless of race had a SAT score at the 99th percentile or greater. A perfect score of 1600 on the SAT equates to only a 8% chance of being admitted to Harvard. To achieve a little diversity they lowered the standards and admitted some black or Hispanic kid from the projects of the Sout side of Chicago that only scored a 1598 on his SAT , who cares.

And this is what people don’t understand. There are so many kids with 4.0+ and great test scores. Just think of all the high schools in America.

He’s a good speaker. He’s doesn’t have a 140 IQ. He’d have gladly released his transcripts if he were so smart. He fought legal battles to protect their release.

He was a C student by all accounts. Not that one can necessarily equate grades with intelligence. Grades are generally some mixture of intelligence and effort.

Given their pool of applicants they could take the easy path and just fill every slot with applicants that had a 4.0+ and a perfect SAT Score. Doing so would greatly diminish the diversity of the incoming class a hundred different ways beyond just race.

Your point is that bc Harvard doesn’t look solely at grades, this policy of racial discrimination is fine. No matter how you justify it, it’s racial discrimination. Just be honest and admit that you approve of racial discrimination as long as it benefits darker complected people.

Until you’re willing to be intellectually honest, you’ll remain the sky screaming fool we all laugh at.

Asians are treated as Caucasian for scholarship purposes.

Now you see why.

Dear liberals, are you aware of the Chinese railroad? The slavery and the atrocities placed upon those people?

Kinda weird that their is no outrage right? Or is it weird at all?

If you are referring to Harvard they do not award academic scholarships. Like MIT and most of the ivy leagues, they don't have to, they already attract the best of the best students. The only monetary assistance offered by Harvard to students is need based financial aid. 20% of Harvard students pay nothing to attend another 40% pay less that $12k a year based of their families income.

Interesting.

This is what I'll say, since I believe in being fair.

Harvard and all other elite universities should focus on recruiting the best. Since they are a private institutions (like a private business) they should have the final say. A private business can discriminate between applicants if they feel one person would fit in better than the other.

As for public Universities, they should do the same given their criteria.

This would be a good time to beef up our vocational programs. The new influx of students into these programs would be a better benefit to our society than the surplus of liberal arts produced at our Universities at all levels per year.

Also, the free market has and will continue to correct itself. So I'm not promoting discrimination. I'm promoting being fair and letting vocational education pick up the slack.

That is dumb logic.

By that logic Trump is hiding something by not releasing his taxes

Not necessarily. Think of it this way. There are plenty of 4.0 + perfect SAT scores people who have little social skills. It's a cliche and doesn't apply to everybody but its VERY TRUE.

Schools do have a right to want different types of students in their class.

But honestly it doesn't matter because you and others wont be content until its 100% white or Asian. And most likely, that's never going to happen.
