Obviously it would be impossible for those of us with no training, but how difficult is it to take off, fly, and land a 747 or Airbus for someone with at least some flying experience?

I saw a movie where Doris Day was a stewardess and ended up piloting the plane, so it can't be too hard

Brian Regan routine:

"The people I feel sorry for are Muslims who honestly want to learn to fly an airplane.

Guy goes to a flight school, 'Hi, I'd like to learn to fly an airplane... Oh, you have to make a call first? Sure, I understand.'"

I'd imagine it's pretty damn easy on a normal day. Those dudes make the big money for when things aren't normal...electric failure, engine failure, etc.

It's not a one person operation, and without experience in the behavior of that aircraft; you would be destined for failure.

I've flown and landed 747's on Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Pretty easy stuff. Can't guarantee a smooth ride for the passengers though...

I’ve familiarized myself with this plane’s safety features. I’m ready to take the yoke.

Pretty easy actually, did it on GTA all the time just make sure there's no random a-hole cop in your way otherwise you'll explode

Explain “some flying experience.” Do you know what V speeds are?

Not really related, but I always told people I got paid to make the train stop.

Anyone can make it go. Stopping 18,000 tons within a foot of where you want takes some practice

I don’t know the answer, but all I can say is I don’t want to try.

Makes me think of my great-uncle who flew everything from a B-17 to a B-52 in thirty years in the military. When he retired, he never flew as a passenger. He said he didn’t trust anyone to fly a plane except himself.
