Uhaul screwed up the wiring on my ambulance/RV and their insurance had to fork out 12k to fix what they blew out.
Find a real shop like an RV shop etc unless they are only installing a hitch.

Buy a hitch kit off amazon... idk where youre getting 200-300 from much less 400... I put one on my old vehicle in an hour

You're probably looking at about $150 for the hitch and another $50 for the wiring kit and an hour or so under the vehicle.

Do you own any tools to "hook up a piece of metal" with? Seriously, I would not use U Haul. Always high as hell. But having a professional do it may be worth the hassle and piece of mind.
If you think you can handle it yourself, I would suggest posting the year, make, model and engine size. Maybe post it on the OB. There's more people on there that will throw you tips and keep you out of the ditch than on the OT.

My wiring kit was super simple. If I remember right, all I had to do was unplug the Y in the factory harness where it split to go to each sides taillight and plug in a Tee harness that had the trailer plug with about a 2ft lead.

Go to etrailer and watch the install video for your vehicle. It's not hard. Rent or borrow a torque wrench and torque to spec.

Etrailer has some crazy rebates right now. I just checked and the Curt class III (5000lb tow/675/tongue) receiver for my vehicle is only $137. It was more than that when I bought last summer. Installed myself in under an hour.
It's good to have a nice torque wrench around the house, so invest in one if you don't have. Make sure it has high enough torque for your installation.
I had a class ii installed on different car last summer, at uhaul, and it was $266 grand total (no tax in MT), w basic 4-pin wiring harness. (Note: this class ii was mostly for bike and other racks. The most i would ever tow would be a small utility trailer very locally, so wasn't worried re uhaul install.)

Wife’s highlander didn’t come with one but being a v6 it had the prep package. I just bought the factory kit from a dealer online. Came with the factory hitch and the replacement valance. Added the factory wire loom to the order too. Looks like it came off the lot that way.
The aftermarket ones either had you cut the valence or were slung under the valence.
Was in it for 350 total.
Hardest part was getting the wife to hold one side of the hitch while I got the bolts started in the other.

Really easy. Just some bolts, a torque wrench, and wiring harness, possibly an adapter.
