For most people in this thread it’s not about the cost either. But those of us that decide to do these things ourselves find joy in it. Many of us also have high stress jobs and highly value our free time, but we don’t look at it as a chore. It’s fun...just a different view.
I enjoy working on my truck, doing yard work, doing woodwork, etc
i do not enjoy working on the AC in the attic in the middle of summer. You can tell me you do, but you'd be lying

Not growing up with a silver spoon in your mouth causes you to have to figure it out if you want to get it done
I also don't trust anyone else's work, and when I let someone else do work for me, they reaffirm my angst every single time. I'd say I have to go back and fix work on 90% of the things I have other people do. It's exhausting, so I just do things myself.

Only thing I’m hiring anyone to repair/replace at my house is the roof.
frick roofing.
And putting up drywall. I did it in my house when installing a new shower. I will spend the money next time for someone else to do it.

Not really handy with small jobs but pretty handy on big jobs.
Ok that was the first thing that came to my mind when I read the title so decided give some humor for the OT'ers ..... honestly I think it is best if I don't try to fix something :)

I don't think you'll get a taker here on a handjob.

This is a little project I been working on. All wood "oak" came off my land. I sawed the logs, dried the lumber, planned it. Then build the sliding door, the metal hanger I built.
Oh, this is in the bathroom of a guest house I'm building.
This is a link to the process that started about 3 years ago.

I know this below is your view of millennials, but it’s not most peoples experiences.

Just got back from the part store. The a/c in my wasn't blowing cold, so I stopped, bought the kit, charged it in the parking lot, a/c works fine now!!!
First time I've ever messed with that, pretty simple. I did have to look up on google to find the low pressure port. It wasn't on the line, it's on the evaporator.
