After 3 generations of college grads before him, my son chose this very path you're talking about. He's 19 and will make about $60K this year. He's an aluminum TIG welder. He's happy as a clam and I'm happy for him

It's not just illegals and lazy people.

It's got a lot to do with shareholder equity being more important than the rank and file people that work for the company.

Corporate profits have been awesome for decades, they just gave more of it to management and the shareholders and not the people that actually do most of the work.

Middle class America is the true engine of the economy. shite trickles up, not down. Want to have a roaring economy, give the blue collar middle class worker a bump.

The decline in unions is a big reason too.

Companies by and large did share the extra profits. It's just that the extra profits went to ever-increasing healthcare premiums for employees and other benefits rather than salary.
