When I was growing up, I’d always blame my silent but violent farts on the paper mill.

I’ve heard this is the worst.

Are paper mills worst than cane mills?

A lot of people I know not from thibodaux bitch all the time about this. I don’t think its that bad. I mean these frickers really exaggerate. For example people living farther away from the mill than me say they smell it. I call bullshite

I've spent considerable amount of time inside and around all 3.

My ranking from worst to not as worst
1) Pogie Plant- (only when they are cooking the fish)
2) Paper Mill- You are smelling the H2S in the air.... It is simply putrid inside and under the paper machines
3) cane mills- a little sour, but not that bad

Gotcha. That one closer to SF is pretty small. It is currently called "Hood". Used to be KPAQ and before that james river

The one in Port Hudson (GP) is one of the largest paper mills in N.A......

While we are on the subject. I love the smell of a burning cane field. What’s almost more justifying is delivering to the John Deere plant that makes the harvesters while it burns across the street.

A professor made some cracks in class about a stinking paper mill. One girl in the class got legit pissed and said pretty loudly, “My daddy works at a paper mill, and it smells like food on the table at my house!”

It got quiet for a few seconds, some form of apology was mumbled, and we moved on.

She didn’t invent the saying, but she sure delivered it with gusto.

I've smelled it between Milhaven and the mall coming from the east if there were low clouds not allowing the smell to escape.

There is a landfill right before Millhaven to the right if you’re going west on I-20. That’s probably what you smelled. If you live in Monroe or West Monroe, you’re pretty much surrounded by bad smell either from the mill in the west or the landfill to the east

I had to do a two week long audit at the big chemical plant in Moss Point nestled in between those two. The paper mill would make you gag, but it was nothing compared to that pogie plant. The only thing I ever smelled that compared was the rendering plant in Des Moines where they boiled all the animal carcasses they picked up from all the farms in the area.

I rarely smell this either unless I’m actually there. Even when i went to OPHS which is just right down the road I couldn’t smell it
