I was lucky to have some of my best friends live right down the street. (Less than 1/2 mile)

All in All about a full mile radius on my bike

@ 10,maybe 9 and for years after I would ride my bike to the UH student center ,, students would buy me food let me bowl

Or Rice and the
Museum District. I would just fall in line with large groups,, sneak in and then do my own thing

at Rice, they thought I was a professor's kid. I would get into rooms I never should have been in.. learned the tunnel system at 10 yrs old

was never molested

As far as I could and still get back within the set time limit, generally supper. I use to live on my bike in the summer.

I was in the 6th grade. I rode my bike from Orange, CA to Santa Ana river and followed that all the way to Newport Beach. It was 32 miles round trip. I don't know wtf I was thinking.

I grew up in the Riverbend subdivision off Brightside, riding the levee into downtown and all over LSU’s campus. No idea how many miles I clocked, but it was a lot. Started with a late-’90s Trek 800 Antelope, then upgraded to an aluminum Trek 8000 with early RockShox. I dreamed of being a pro mountain biker—wrong state for that—but I had the climbing bars to power up the levee like a champ.

A year ago, I bought a Trek e-bike as a midlife crisis move. I’ve put over 800 miles on it since and dropped 30 lbs. It feels great to be back in the saddle. The e-bike flattens out the hills where I live now—makes riding possible again, even when I’m not in peak shape.

I assume that was the case but those rides while indeed training almost always included a stop where I did other things. My favorite ride at the time was riding to a National Battlefield and doing loops around the park most of the time I stopped and went in the visitors center and looked around. To this day I know more about that battle than any other.

The point was at the time my parents let me ride 15-20 miles away from the house, much of it on a 4 lane highway with a 55mph speed limit. I was a freerange child.

My dad always told me 3.50 miles. And he would say it like that and laugh. I never understood until I got older.

Had an amazing two days playing with a potato gun. Sucked with the old Karen came out and made us stop and threaten to call the cops.

About 40 miles when I was 13 on a regular old single speed bicycle with maypop tires. My riding partner was shooting for his Bicycling Merit Badge and we made the trip by the way of lots of hills in the hot summertime.

We only took one canteen of water each, a couple of sandwiches, and maybe 50¢ apiece to buy a coke along the way. This was in the middle 1950s.

We had the rule of the roost everything around oak hills. The boundaries were Perkins to the north, highland to the south, bluebonnet to the west and Siegen to the east. If there was a road inside that square than I rode my bike on it

I just mapped some of my old destinations from my childhood house and some of my furthest destinations were 1-1.5 miles away. There was one location that was about 4 miles away. I can't remember if we biked and walked it or just walked it though.

We had some railroad tracks about 5 miles away, for some reason we gravitated towards them as we got older and older.

We would put change on the tracks then go back a few days later to get it , flattened.

We were 8-9 or so and our parents had no idea .

As far as my hand radio had contact with my mom, until I was about 11. Then I'd ride my bike from Terrytown to sometimes as far as the Back of Ames or damn near Avondale.
