How far away are we from full Idiocracy?

I tell my kids it won’t be like full blown Idiocracy. But I think we are heading in a direction where 10% or so of the population are smart and the rest are stupid.

There are still hundreds or millions of smart people on the planet. Or at the very least 10s of millions.

It seems that people my age don't know a thing about self-worth. People care more about posting the coolest snapchatter story or getting the most likes on the instagrammer.
