summer without having to work?
this doesnt happen. Contracts are 10 months paid out over 12.

So... they get paid the two months they aren't working.

There is a reason why they are single. Would you marry someone with a brain that thinks like that. No one forced them to get a useless degree

Average teacher salary is pretty much in line with any other government employee job

What’s incredible is public school teachers get paid twice that of most private school teachers yet private schools tend to have way better quality teachers

I think these women get paid pretty good compared to babysitters.

If she goes to the doctor for a simple headache, she must be a pain in the arse.

I highly doubt any public teachers get twice the amount of private teachers.

Salary info for these teachers, from 2018 when articles was released:

#1 - 55,000
#2 - 69,000
#3 - 73,000

All are well above the median salary for the area in which they live.

100% agree but I have a serious question. How does one prove to be a better teacher. What is being a better teacher based on? How do you compare what a teacher does in inner city Chicago versus uppity Colorado suburb?

Im a teacher in america and am about to be almost completely debt free (minus car and public student loans) after only year 5 and will likely buy my first house within the next year. These people are just stupid.

Ditto. No loans for me. My only major debt is a mortgage.

That said, I live in an area that’s still relatively cheap. If you want to teach in Austin, you marry rich or share an apartment.

The entire profession is probably underpaid, but the system is broken. If every politician did the job for a week, they’d change their mind too. This board also has an issue with teachers. I think it’s funny, considering the poor reputation the SE has when it comes to education. Unfortunately, the problem will not be fixed by throwing money at it, or at least until the system is overhauled, which it won’t be.

yeeep. I've never been one to complain about the money because I knew what I was getting into. Would I like more money? Of course. But I feel im compensated fairly for the work I put into it now and I make sure I'm doing extra shite (coaching, working athletic events, small summer job) to fill in the gaps if needed.

No they arent. Those who "get paid" during the summer are doing so because they chose to have part of each pay check put into a fund that then becomes the summer pay.

Or you can opt out of that and get your full check month and none in the summer

our district sets it up where your paid out as if it's 12 months and you can opt for either a lump sum or monthly for the summer months.

coaching, working athletic events

I plan on getting out of those this year. I’ve done some logging of hours, and working three 70 hour weeks in October, plus about 6 other Friday nights for FB season, and 4 weeks of summer practices…yeah, that shite is not worth the stipend they tack on.

1: Spends all her money on food
2: Spends all her time complaining
3: Incompetent. That's why she keeps getting laid off.

that is one area i bitch about. My stipend for coaching isnt enough for the work I put into it but i just love the sport (xc/track) too much. I just do the athletic events more for fun than anything.
