I could understand your apprehension and lack of support if the financial cost burdened you, her or your family in a way where things like bills, savings, investments, etc. had to be ceased to subsidize it.

The same way I could understand a someone's apprehension to support their spouse's desire to buy a $85,000 truck or go hunting every weekend at a lease they can't afford or buy a boat well beyond what they can afford without cutting other part of the budget that would be considered financially irresponsible.

I feel bad for the grandkids and great grandkids. None of them will ever have the sweet little old lady grandma. It’s like the old lady on the tweety bird cartoons will be a rarity.

Does she live in a household where she has to ask your permission about things like this? Sounds like a pretty shitty situation for her.

My wife has mentioned it before, I tell her that I don't think she needs it, but if she ultimately wanted to get it, then I wouldn't really care.

No, you won't come out and say it. I mean, you've already drug her self confidence and insecurity concerns out on a message board for the world to see.

Narcissistic behavior will not help you with her. "Putting your foot down" like you called it in the first post will never yield a win for you. Even if you get what you want, you lose because she doesn't.

The only way you win here is to work with her on her path to happiness.

Or, continue to be unwilling or unable to recognize her needs and feelings, continue to seek compliance with your expectations for her, continue to set a moral ground and define what is and is not needed in your marriage even when it doesnt impact you.

Ignore all that if you want but don't come to a message board and ask questions when you arent prepared to hear answers that differ from your opinion. You can't convince everyone all the time that you're opinion is the most important and most valid especially when you're the one asking for guidance.

I think it's weird, and while my wife will obviously have body autonomy if I ever get married, I would heavily recommend against.
