If you looked at the class breakdown and not the race breakdown , it would give you a lot more reason why they do so well.

Sorta, but not really. Ben Frank is better academically and has a full athletic program. They are more like a traditional public school than BRH is.

As someone who graduated from there, want to know why?
1. they test in, weed out the ones that actually can't cut it (likely at least)
2. they fail students and kick them out...yes you can actually fail and get kicked out.
3. the students are actually bright kids who care, regardless of race
4. the whole poor thing doesn't work either, my family was poor and I still busted my tail. Its good parenting that encouraged me to work hard to not have to struggle-bus like them (immigrants)
5. here's a shocker for most of you, even black kids were top 10. One girl of which went to MIT. And before the whole "she's black", she scored over 32 ACT and 2290 on SAT...meaning her race meant jack shite into her getting in

It helped a little with a 32 and MIT.
But she earned it. Work habits count just as well.
ETA: friend of mine is probably the smartest guy I know-book wise...very little street smarts or common sense- and he scored 36 and high 1500's.
MIT threw his application in the trash.
