I wonder this every year at Christmas with the Mercedes and Lexus commercials.

How in the world does someone go drop 50k+ on something without their spouse knowing? Are they also not trading another vehicle in?

Has anyone here actually done this?

Yes, but a neighbor did it with a Camry in 1995.

It's really not that difficult to do. Trade in? You're getting ripped off.

If my wife spent 50k without discussing it, she would go over my knee.

Bring her to the dealership, and let her pick out the car. If it's not perfect, she will never take care of your gift.

The dealer will add a bow, and all the other requests you have to make it special.

I can tell you aren't OT rich. To us ballers $50k is a rounding error in our expense account.

I just went and bought the car and put it in the garage. Wasn't unusual for there to be a car in the garage with the door closed.

For Christmas it might be a little tougher, but easily doable. On Christmas Eve just say you are making a run to get charcoal or something. Swap the car out and drive the car back and park it in the driveway for the next morning. Most dealers will work with you on this.

A POS that cheated on his wife with her best friend this year bought his wife a nice new suv, big red bow and all.

I think you are supposed to put a big red bow on the car and have it out in front of your house on Christmas Morning. That's how they do it on TV.

My wife and I were talking about this. I told her I would kill her if she made a purchase over $5k without talking to me. And really, that number should be lower.

You buy yourself a new one and give her your old one.
