Trying to be nice and polite about it, but there is one gentlemen that loves to speak to you up close, but let’s out an awful smell of a mix between dog shite and coffee. I really don’t want to ask him if he bobbed for turds this morning, but he needs to know.

It would not be doing him any justice if it continues to be ignored.

It's called halitosis. It's from people not brushing their teeth, cleaning their tongue or flossing.

Explain to him that co-workers and/or customers don't want to smell his bad breath. That there is a code of cleanliness and conduct in the handbook.

Eta:
Order a few boxes of these for the front counter, and the men's room.

politely leave them an assortment of breath freshening products on their desk when they go to the bathroom

gum, altoids, listerine, listerine tabs, floss, and tooth paste.

they should get the subtle hint

Just say "Your breath smells like shite."

But say it with a smile.

Just keep offering and insisting they take gum or mint every 5 minutes everyday until he gets the picture.

Every time you see him, just say: "Hey Shithead"

He gets it fine, if he looks confused or pissed off, it's still funny - at least to you

win win

I'm not sure. I just wanted to point out that your avi is awesome and probably not allowed so I am going to enjoy it for a few minutes more.

Doesn’t smoke, but he does dip so I’m sure that has a lot to do with it.
