Test drove an F150 and noticed that the engine turned off at every stop and restarted when I took my foot off the brake. There is a button to turn off this feature but you have to press this on every new trip you take in the vehicle. I have heard there are ways to permanently disable this but not exactly sure how this is done. Anyone do this yet?

Dumb question, but have you checked the in house menu under vehicle options?

The ole lady complains about this when she has to drive a rental that does this.

Agree this is annoying. In some cars you can disable it. In mine you cant. Ive just made it a habit of hitting the button as soon as I start car

While we’re on the subject of permanently disabling something, how do I permanently disable whatever keeps automatically playing music from my phone when I hit the Bluetooth button on the dash?

Ford has made sure to include the human element when designing this system. That's why, unlike some start-stop systems, there is an easy way to turn it off. The on/off button has the same image as the dash icon. It is located above the touchscreen to the far right of the driver. There are two reasons that they turn off the system. The first is the lack of noise when they are at a redlight. Without the engine, the cabin unquestionably is quieter than when the engine is running. The second is their concern about the system's impact on engine systems.

Seems easily turned off

Youtube, permanently turn off stop/start

I had experience with this recently on a rental. First time I've driven a vehicle that does this. I couldn't help but think, is this really optimal for both the engine and fuel savings in constant stop and go driving. It seems like it would put a hell of a strain on a lot of vehicle systems and I can't imagine the fuel savings are anything more than negligible, if at all.

I dont think you can turn it off, but people online have just put a wire jumper behind the switch so it turns off when you turn the truck on.

I think you can program it, but you risk voiding the warranty.

I wouldn't buy a vehicle that didn't have a button to defeat this feature.

I think you have to turn it off with a custom tuner

Mandated by the FedGov to combat idle emissions, so every new car will have it in a few years.

That temporary disables it. You have to press that every time you restart the engine. I have heard you can permanently disable it but Ford won't advertise it. Eg, if you put a light tester in the trailer hitch, it will think you are towing something and disable the feature. But here has to be a better way.

I have this too. It usually doesn't bother me unless it's 98 degrees outside. Supposedly it detects a few degree temperature change and starts it back up. It still gets hot for a few seconds.

It’s annoying but it doesn’t take that long to get in the habit of pressing that button right after pressing the button to turn on the car. It’s second nature after a few months IMO

There's your problem.
Dont the newer GMC's just drop down to 4CL when idling to help fuel economy without actually shutting the engine off?
