Always wanting to change/discuss their role or wanting instant gratification constantly, emotionally needy, always asking for additional tools that aren’t the company norm, always stirring the pot with other employees because they don’t fall into the conservative corporate environment.

Flip side, they’re very smart, have great ideas, constantly are improving processes, etc.

Just nearing impossible to manage, and not really promotable since they would not manage others well.

I speak to their manager to put them back in line or I will be looking for a new manager soon.

Give them space to do their job as long as they are performing. If they keep causing issues with other employees, document it, have a conversation with them and if it continues, let them go.

Part of the job of a supervisor is to develop their employees and get them to improve. This sounds like a supervisor issue.

Have a talk with them. If you believe they are a valuable asset then figure out a way to help them.

Joe doesn’t know he is fricking up if he is never told he is fricking up or shown how not to frick up.

Now, if we are talking about the fryer at McDonald’s then jut let him go. There are millions of people that could do that job.

Minimize their role

If they continue the behavior separate from them

1 - treat all staff fairly - not to be confused with treating them all the same - true high performers earn a little more leeway - each individual responds to external stimuli differently - get to know how to "coach" them all to perform to their potential.
2 - be prepared to have 10-20% attrition annually - make sure the low performers are either encouraged to leave or fired - the rest of the staff is tired of carrying them and they will respond positively.
3 - let all staff know you're not running a day-care - while everyone has personal business requiring time away from the normal work day, this cannot become a chronic attendance/dependability issue.

it's been a while since you've gotten a promotion, huh? Or do you usually come to the OT for management advice?

As long as they can consistently align the bun, meat, and toppings on the burger I will try to find a way to work with them.

Write her up for creating a toxic work environment and see if the attitude changes. No company needs that kind of crap in the workplace.

So there’s a problem with an employee and your solution is to fire their supervisor? I seriously doubt you supervise anything more than a plate of pork and beans. That solution in the real world doesn’t hunt.

They don't have managers now that the WFO model has proven them to be useless leaches on the company.
