A girl I used to hang out with in college just recently died. She used to just smoke and then got into some of the other drugs like coke and pills so I’m assuming that is what caught up to her. She was a nurse and by all means seemed to live a normal life.

I feel awful for her family as no parent should ever have to bury their child. She was a nice girl and i am trying to figure out what happened. We didn’t run with the same friends due to the drugs and stuff so it isn’t like I could reach out to them. Just trying to figure out what happened. Is there a way to find this out or is it one of those things I will have to leave as a mystery?

If the obit doesn’t say what it is, it’s usually drugs

In my experience if everyone close to the person is hush hush, that means it was an OD

Pathologists are very skilled at identifying what killed a person. Autopsy and lab tests are what they use.

Give her name and the detectives on the OT will give you the cause of death in 10 minutes.

It sounds like it's not really any of your business. Maybe just don't worry about it?

Also could gave been heart attack or some other issue caused by drugs.

The Pill can cause pulmonary blood clots. Not common but it happens.

Could have a previously unknown genetic heart problem, like John Ritter or Wally Pontiff.

Facebook usually. Some dumb relative always insinuates the cause trying to pay respects.

Ask someone who knew her. I saw my former classmate’s husband’s obituary and was shocked as he was in his 30’s. Didn’t mention cause of death. I asked someone from town, and they said he died from a head injury when he fell from the golf cart his physician’s assistant wife was driving while drinking.

It will be listed on the death certificate. Honestly though I’d advise you to just leave it alone. It’s not important that you know. Respect the family’s privacy.

Not true. Doubt you’ll find any obits talking about the deceased dying in a horrible auto accident or getting sucked into a wood chipper. Most of the time obits don’t go into great detail about the cause of death though you might see a mention of losing a long battle with cancer or something like that.

I think death certificates can be public info. Buy one and it will list the cause

Same with previously unknown genetic caused stroke. My 1st cousin 4 months younger just stroked out and died 2 years ago, was rare genetic condition they said usually kills early so he was lucky to make age 50. No one else in his family has it as his eldest brother paid to have them all tested including 4 generations (parents, siblings, kids, grandkids), just a rare combo of genes.

Yea. It isn’t any of my business and I’m not trying to dive into the family’s business or her friends while they are obviously grieving. We didn’t run in the same crowds so I don’t really have anyone to ask.

I’m just wondering what or why it happened and being nosey/curious.
