I just call everyone "Chief", but I'm sure the day I met an Indian it might be offensive.

Just an old guy being an old guy.
I'd definitely cringe. Better than him calling you "white devil".

I got a problem with how you plastered your thought like you did.
Until you articulate a semi-coherent sentence, I will continute to have no earthly idea what you are talking about.

I've had a lot of black men, 60+ call me "sir" when I first meet them. Like...dads of friends. I guess they were raised like that, but if I'm young enough to be your son, you don't have to call me "sir".

Blue eyed devil is pretty awesome.
A guy I used to work with would shout this at me all the time. Usually right after I shouted it.
Driving down washington street the other day I hear, "blue eyed devil!" pulled a u turn to see who did it, it's him and about ten friends laughing their asses off in the front yard.
Cop pulls by a few minutes later and sees a white guy with a shaved head and a beard in camo sitting with ten black guys in the front yard in the hood.
Double took so hard he almost crashed his unit.

I don't use the term, but I've had folks of all races use it towards me. Definitely over thinking it.

Was it similar to the way people say "hey there tiger?" or "alright there playboy" or something like that? I probably would not have even put thought into it, just a nice guy being nice.

I've noticed a few things about those who do it: always well spoken, in good humor, visibly middle-class, and are not interracial.
You need to get out and be around more people bro. The whole race thing is what you make of it, but in reality it come down to class/education. You have probably been around "your kind" most of your life. If that's the case you probably have a more stereotypical view of people different than you.
You can see two people from different races, one being from your own race, the other a different race. You will likely associate that behavior with the person of a different race just because race is something that you can use to separate differences.

Upset. "Cap'n" is the proper title.
