If your wife makes less than you, do you split all expenses 50/50 or ask her to take on other tasks around the house?

I tried the latter, where I'd take care of the outside and pay most bills, and she'd do all the indoor stuff like organizing, cleaning, laundry which takes more time.

That usually works for a few weeks, but eventually they'll slack off and only do the bare minimum of laundry.

We put our money into a bank account and we pay for all of our shite out of it.

Some of you (or your wives) should have married better

You’re married. Put your money in a single account, and everything comes out of that. Split bank accounts encourages both husband and wife to not save their money for retirement or long term larger purchases

Our money goes into one account and we work together to reach our financial goals.

We have a joint bill account, savings accounts and we each have our own spending account.

I make a lot more than her but we just combine what we make. I work a good bit more hours than she does. She does a lot more of the cooking and housework.

Joint account and then there’s my account.

Most of my expense is savings, vacations and whatever the UPS man brings me at work.

We’ve always had separate checking accounts and who pays what has evolved over time. I always paid mortgage, insurance and utilities. And my vehicle. She pays for her car and initially kids tuition until college. Now I pay college tuition but she pays housing.

We are a team, I do what I can to make her life easier and she does the same for me.
