How do you advertise your small business?

I run a tree cutting business. Have been in the Tampa/Clearwater area for fouryears and grown pretty well. Used Craiglist and and door to door with business cards and fliers. Took a year to start getting work daily but the strain paid off. Had 1,000's of business cards out and those added up and started getting calls. Also put my business on my truck with phone number and got decent returns from that as well.
Moving to Gainesville next month so have to start from scratch up there. I'm keeping work going with the two other trucks I have here(have employees working those trucks). So am just going to keep on in charge of operation down there and start over in Gainesville.
Wondering if you guys have any ideas for marketing here. I really don't feel like going through the door to door routine again it's pain staking. Any websites I am not using that I should be? I do well with the budget and business side of this. Got my degree in Finance. I just don't do as well in the marketing side.
Anything would help.

Get a midget and do a TV ad. Not sure how it well that will work, but it would be hilarious to see.

Run a TV commercial on the local news station with a local celebrity endorsement like Florida head coach Chip Kelly.

Try Nextdoor. Set up one for your neighborhood if one doesn't exist, and put your info out on that.

We are on one in our neighborhood down in the Keys and small business owners use it to spread the word.

Facebook and Instagram for our small business. A good tree guy is hard to find. If you're reputable and do good work, you won't have to advertise much.
Good luck!

Get McElwain to hump that shark again but this time have him wear a t-shirt with your company’s logo instead of being naked.

Cheaper than TV ad is direct mailer with a picture of the local celebrity endorser, such as Florida head coach Chip Kelly.

Google plus page. Get a marketing company that can get you on the first page.

You can also do some demographically targetted facebook ads that are broken down by zipcode, age, gender, etc.
If it were me, I would time the direct mailers and facebook ads to all run concurrent in the same two week time frame.
You don't want to over-do it and end up with your phone blowing up, having to just let the phone ring while you are cutting trees. That's just going to piss off alot of potential people that would otherwise be future customers.
Have your website already built and running.
Start with one zip code at a time, let them run, then do another zip code, and another, etc. Go ahead and get the ball rolling with a local temp company in case you need someone to answer phones you can get them fast instead of waiting on paperwork, in the event your phone does blow up.

What about SalesForce and those type of sites?
Surely you have a webpage yea? Apparently twitter/FB/etc are help quite a bit especially for 'neighborhood' sites on FB.

I started out small with podcasts.

You're right. A real-live service like trees/plumbing/flooring etc will get traction as people are ALWAYS asking for recs on Facebook.
Facebook is legit a good marketing tool to target specific areas from a city down to the zip codes of users you want to target/service.
I have several friends in the BR area with small businesses(small marketing budget) who are able to get their businesses in Facebook Feeds.

Hire a firm that does internet marketing. Maybe help out with some events or do some pro-bono work around the community.

I usually just pull it out of my pants
Might be more of a display than advertising

Homeadvisor wouldn't work for you?

Midgets and sex sell. Midget sex sells better.
