Exactly

99% of my texts will come from someone I know.

99% of personal emails I receive are not from an actual person nor do I know them.

And I go out of my way to not sign up for shite via email either.

Where the messages come from and the content couldn't be more different.

Do y'all not curate your inbox?

I get a TON of emails but my inbox doesn't get too many random ones.

They are vastly different.

That is like saying a tuba and a drum are the same because they are musical instruments that make annoying noise

I used to but once I realized that I was basically never getting a single email that I needed to get I quit on it because:

I never get an email I care about or want to read, unless someone is specifically they're telling me they'll email me something so situations where I'm expecting something specific are the only times I'll get that type of email. Otherwise it's all noise.

I turn off email notifications because I get so many it becomes a distraction, rather than an aid.

That said, I’m anal retentive about my inbox being completely empty before I leave every day. So I’m checking constantly. Everything is either read, been responded to, or filed away

I'm the same way with my work email. I don't know how people function with an ungodly amount. I have 2 right now.

I don’t answer work emails when I’m off, sorry.

Texting is oral communication but in writing, if that makes sense. Email is more akin to writing a letter.

OK so what about 10 and 10?

Should be pretty easy.

Only person I know that can't keep up with emails is my boss. I was guessing about the number of emails but just checked the log and he has over 700 in the last week. I don't know how many texts he gets a day but I doubt it comes close to his number of emails.

Personally I get everything (texts and emails) on my computer and phone so I see them all right away. Less than half get my immediate attention but I'll reply when I finish what I'm doing. I think a lot of people don't want their work emails on their phone because of nights and weekends but I like being available at all times if something comes up. Clients appreciate that shite but as an employee I get others not wanting to bring work home.

No way I'm leaving email notifications on. It would be almost constant during the day and then the crap emails all night.

Text has a much better shot at getting a reply.

I use unread work emails as a "to do" list

Just turn the notification off. Problem solved.

It's not hard. People just aren't efficient.

I can answer a text with one swipe. To answer an email I have to pull the app up and rummage through all the bullshite to find the email that needs to be read. And honestly sometimes the bullshite overpowers the important email so it gets lost in the mix.

It's just easier to answer a text.

My notifications separate emails. Is this not common on non-Google phones?

I don't know what you mean. Do my emails come to my account separately? Yes.
