Anyone have any experience with this? Seems damn near impossible. No alphabet.

Maybe they write in pinyin?

Let's see. When you set up your computer it ask you what country.... So I am guessing if you go to settings or something you could change your settings.

Still doesn't explain how you type without an alphabet. I know pinyin exists, but I doubt that's how their internet looks.
Perhaps keyboards with pictograph options that can be combined to make the appropriate symbol? I really don't know.

Chinese characters are made up of "radicals." These are subparts that make up the thousands of characters, and the radicals aren't all that numerous. The Chinese keyboard lets you input the radicals in the character you want, and it figures out the entire character.
The radicals are generally just 3 or 4 brush strokes. There's a sun radical, a moon, a little roof, a man, a woman, etc.
If you look deep into antiquity, there is a certain logic to how each character breaks into radicals, but it's pretty obscure. "Happiness" is an easy example- man radical and woman radical under roof radical.

Exactly - I’m not talking about pinyin that would be just like typing Spanish or any other language. I’m not even talking Russian or Arabic - these have alphabets. I’m talking about Chinese pictographs.

You tap the shift key, “C,” then the h,I,n,e,s and e keys.
You’re welcome.

Unless they are horizontal, they have a weird concept of happiness

Probably something like this if I had to guess.

You type the letter C-H-I-N-E-S-E on a keyboard.
Typing it in Cantonese or Mandarin might be a little more difficult.

The Chinese students I went to grad school with had some kind of app where you would spell out pronunciation in English and it would translate that to Mandarin text
