Google how to say "kill" or "die" in Korean or Japanese and scream it.
If ol' boy flinches? Thank him for his service. If not? Scream "stolen valor" and film it as u push him to the ground.

I'm only 35 but do you guys think I could get away with wearing this hat?

Ask him if fighting the fascists in Europe was as scary as fighting fascist speakers at Berkeley

I met a man who claimed to be one of the first US Army infantry units sent to Korea in the summer of 1950. He said that the Soviet tanks that the NKs used had 88mm main guns. I immediate rose from the pew of the church where he spoke to yell "YOU LIE" because I know that the Soviet T34/85 tanks had a 85mm main gun.
No, just kidding. But the gentleman was real. I had the privilege to know him for some years before he passed. And I am very honored to have known one of Task Force Smith Soldiers who defended the Pusan Perimeter in late 1950. He did see action against the enemy T34/85s. The Soldiers at that time had no AT weapon that could defeat its frontal armor. They had only WW2-vintage 60mm bazookas and 57mm AT guns, and those weapons just bounced off the tank's frontal armor and side turret armor.
The US had some Chaffee tanks there in 1950, but, the 75mm gun on that tank could not defeat the T34/85s frontal armor.

They pretty much all fought in WWII.

Call 'em out bro.
And for shits and giggles, film the interaction(s) and post to tOT for admiration.

Does he have the 1000 yard stare and maintain an iconoclastic silence? If not, he's faking. I learned that from movies.

Men from that generation wouldn't try to fake something like that.
A pleasant, romantic notion... but also naive.

It was the drug war for me. I don't like to talk about it.

Saw a number of Korea vets at a car show last weekend. Dad was the only WW2 vet out and about though I am sure the nursing home part had some. Dad is also vet of korea and vietnam but he just wears a generic Marine hat.

Well you could go ask him about it. But if you get shot in the face and survive, don't blame me for it.

Wife and I were in London. Local guy pointed out a local pub. Told me that a lot of old British vets hung out there in their scarlet dress uniforms, wearing their combat medals, to get free beer. Wife and I went that Sat. Night to have the privilege of buying those guys a pint. Met some paratroopers that jumped in Operation Market-basket.

Pay attention to any pins that he has on it and ask him about them as well. If you are polite and respectful he will likely talk at length about his experiences. Talking to him is a way of making him feel appreciated for his service, and it would also help you gain some insight into people.
Paul Maineri or Les Miles might get someone upset but never ever disrespect someone who has served our country. It is a damn shame that we don't serve our veterans the way they have served us. These freedoms that we have are not free. Thank God we had young men and women willing to fight on the beaches of Normady and in Vietnam and Iraq. These are the real fricking heroes. frick Peyton Manning and LeBron. These Veterans need to be treated better with services that they have earned.

Very few remaining WWII vets. Still plenty of Korean War vets around. But they are dwindling down every year.

Thank you for your service

I was always treated very well in uniform (had several instances people would buy my lunch for me) and being out I keep a DD214 with me and an Air Force logo on my car. It's got a few LEOs to let me go with a warning when they see the DD214 so nicely folded up next to my insurance and registration papers when I've had to pull them out.
