If you're serious, I know a guy. Not my thing, but he's as hardcore as it gets. He's SCV, like somebody mentioned. adavis2282@gmail.com if you want me to put you in touch with him

Oh Jefferson is an annual must for us. The town is so pretty and the town fight is super fun. Great boost for their economy.

Went to Fort Gaines on Dauphin Island AL this summer and several guys from Louisiana were dressed up in civil war outfits and were cooking and spending the night. Some wives / girflfriends were with them and dressed up as well. Nice guys and were all pumped to get the chance to spend the night inside the fort. Wasn’t a war reenactment but was interesting. I don’t remember exactly where in LA they were from. Lafayette maybe. Good luck to you

Let me know when they march for 90 miles with ragged shoes, without food but corn dodgers and 5 yr old pork fat, defending a lost cause against a well-equipped, well-fed, motivated military corps five times their strength. Those guys you see on TV should be 5 inches shorter and 100 pounds lighter.

In the opinion of some posters on the Political Board, sometime in the foreseeable future you may be fighting in a real Civil War.

Port Hudson Battlefield has a reenactment every year. I'm sure someone from there would have info?

I have always had an affinity for the state of Louisiana, history and the civil war. I have family that served and one of my ancestors was even a sgt for the st James rifles and was captured at port Hudson! I know that several reanactments go on around the area but I’m just wondering if anyone here knows how to join up! Also any advice from some reanactors that might post here is welcomed!

Serious here: if reenactments are your thing, read Tishomingo Blues by Elmore Leonard.

Awesome crime novel with a civil war reenactment as the backdrop.

Possibly my favorite novel of his. And that's saying a lot.

Are they still active?
My grandpa and I did it from 2003-2006 I believe.
Played my fair share of powder monkey.

Are you woodville, state trooper, or a Chapman?

Retired trooper. I know who you are now. Yes, we are still active. If you ever want to come back, you would be welcome. Your Grandfather was first class. Best wishes.

Proud that your ancestors were conscripted by force into fighting a war? I'll never understand this logic. It's like being proud of living under a tyrant.

I do one man reenactments of the Honey War annually. It's tough being Mizzou & Iowa, but that's part of the fun. You can come check it out next year if you want. It's the 180th anniversary in 2019. If things go well, I might let you be Iowa in the future. I know it's not as sexy as the Civil War, but it's my favorite war on American Soil and immensely important in our nations history.
