How did your life change when you had your first newborn

What’s the best and worst thing about being a father?
My first child is due in 2 months and I have been counting the days.

My wife wasn’t happy.

Lost sleep and lost freedom

It’s amazing that everything in your life takes one step down the priority list and you don’t mind a bit.
Make it through the first 6 months. From 6 months on - it is great.

In my opinion, you never know true love until your child is born

When the baby sleeps
You sleep

You learn the true definitions of fatigue and love.
Best thing? Watching my little boy grow and change. Also your child's laughter is the best sound you will ever hear.
Worst thing? Sleep and dealing with idiot inlaws (your experience may vary)

Used to go to concerts all the time. Now I'm lucky to go to 3 or 4 a year. Get your sleep while you can. Cook some meals that can be frozen. Get you a good camera to document everything. I make a book every year for my wife with pics of our daughter throughout the year. Enjoy every second... It goes quick.

All those saying lost sleep, I think it really depends on the kid. Mine slept through the night at 2 months old and always did afterwards. The less money is definitely accurate though.

Life changes so much when you have a newborn. The biggest change is life isn't just about you anymore. You can't just do whatever, whenever. But it is so worth it.
Yes, there are frustrating days/nights, but it's all worth it when they laugh or smile at you. And watching them learn and grow is so cool.
Enjoy it!

Just gotta learn to get sleep whenever you can. Until your child can sleep through the night, you can throw a set sleep schedule out the window.
It’s a love like nothing you’ve ever experienced before.

I fell in love the moment I found out I was pregnant. Everything that once mattered wasn’t so important. I’m a very meek person IRL but having a child made me speak up. You’re their voice, you’re their protection and those instincts never leave you. It’s hard to watch them stumble and fail but this is what makes and builds character. I mean how do you recognize success if there is no failure?
And lastly, discipline when needed but explain yourself.
Congrats!!!

First few months were brutal. Some babies do not sleep much. Mine is 7 months and only now sleeps more than four hours at a time.
As a newborn shite was brutal

The pride of being a Dad will be natural and very real.

Constantly having to plan car rides, lunches, dinners, etc. around the baby eating. The first baby didnt change much. The wife and I were still able to get out the house alone sometimes to get some quiet time. Now we have 2 kids under 3 and you constantly have a kid attached to you, asking 2000 questions, mostly consisting of the same questions.
