Just a month ago.

Big boned lab, she was 12. She was having trouble getting up, limping around, but all in all she made due just fine.

One morning I wake up for work, and she's laying in the living room, literally laying on top of pee and poop, she was a mess. She lost control of her back legs, she couldn't move them at all. Cleaned her off, took her to the vet. And they said even if her legs come around by the end of the day, this would be the new normal. So it was her time.

Never had a dog die. They all went to live on a farm owned by family friends. They're probably still running around there, happy as can be at age 25 +.

Airedale puppy was run over and died. Lemonhound was about 7 and was run over and died. Third time was the charm. Made a house dog out of the Beagle and she lived 15 years and three days. Old age got to be too much for her.

I had to put down my 14 year old Boston Terrier last September. He had started using the bathroom in the house if you didn't watch him close, but was otherwise fine. One Friday he took a sudden unexpected turn and by Sunday couldn't lay down, wasn't eating or drinking, looked completely lost, and was panting non-stop. We took him to the vet that Monday knowing what we had to do. He's still badly missed.

We had a pom just like that and she was a freaking alcoholic. My wife and kids claim she died because I was out of the country for 2 weeks and DTs got her.

Childhood dog wandered off and never came back. Current 10 yr old mutt will probably get hit chasing the UPS truck or my wife will kill him, but if he survives that he has at least another decade.

I grew up very close to my grandparents. My pawpaw bought me a lab when I was 8. Best dog I ever had, he grew up with me and we used to go fishing all the time in my grandfathers 17' xpress. This dog went everywhere with me and I loved him like a brother. My grandfather passed away 3 months before I went to LSU and Zeke wouldn't leave my side for weeks after. I swear he knew. I never knew my father, so my grandfather was the closet thing I've ever had to one. When I went to LSU I couldn't bring myself to take Zeke (my lab) away from our land and ponds to go live in an apartment. He used to run and get in my truck before I would leave. My mom called one night my sophomore year and said they found him on the Bow of my boat passed away.

I swear to you that was one of the worst nights of my life. I held it together when my grandfather passed because I knew my mother and grandmother needed me to. When zeke died it all hit me and I broke down.

Cool ending- I bred Zeke with a buddies lab and I was able to track down one of the guys we sold a pup to. He bred his dog and I have a black lab now that is exactly the same as his grandfather. If I'm lucky enough to have a son one day I hope he gets to share memories and make experiences with a similar buddy. Best friend I could ever ask for.

ETA: To this day one of my best memories was catching an 8lb bass and jumping around the boat with my grandfather with Zeke. You never know the things that will mean the most to you in life but I would give my left nut for one more day fishing with my Pawpaw and Zeke. I wish someone would have told me how precious those moments were while I was in them.

My Beagle <---- had bladder cancer.

We had it removed once, then it came back a year later super aggressive. More surgery was not an option

Dad had a Doberman when I was young that died of kidney failure

Had a Golden Retriever in my teens that died when it was run over. Some neighborhood dickheads threw a stick into the woods on the other side of our street and it got creamed as it took off after the stick. The dog would retrieve everything. If you didn't have a stick it would find a low hanging branch and break it off so you could throw it.
Best dog I have ever been around, picking up a GR puppy early April.

Dog sitter had dogs on leash during storm to avoid getting soaked. Ollie tried to jump over the fence and hung herself.

We have had 4 dogs since we've been married. 1st was a small terrier mutt rescue that lived to about 12 years old and simply disappeared when it got sick. Was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Believe it went to the wooded area by our house to lay down and die, but could never find her. 2nd dog - We think our 17 year old wheaton terrier/ hound mix may have had a mini stroke and he started to lose bodily function control. We brought him to the vet thinking we had to put him down. Vet convinced us he had dog vertigo and would clear up and sure enough, after a couple weeks he was himself. After about a month he took another turn for the worse and for the first time in his life, all he wanted to do was get out of the yard and get to the water by our house. His bodily function control worsened, and the Saturday morning I was taking him to the vet again, he was gone. Searched all morning and eventually found him in the water. Called my son, then 23, to come and help bury his dog. Was fitting for Old Gumbo, he never wanted to impose on us. Still to this day, the best dog "my son" ever had.
3rd dog - A 15 year old toy poodle, wife's dog, that was a great inside dog. He had to be put down, after being diagnosed with an enlarged heart. He was not in a good way when we put him down, but my wife had enough time to say her goodbye's and feel good about the decision.
4th dog - We now have a 1 year old multepoo that I am raising like my dog Gumbo. Does everything with me outside and is a very lovable dog. He's got a good chance to enter into the Gumbo category if he keeps up his behavior!

That's all I got and all dog's have been and are remarkable.

Aussie diagnosed with Lymphoma. Would have survived with treatments several years if had been type B or T. Test came back as null cell with a life expectancy of 30 days sans treatment and 6 months with. I was not ready for to say goodbye so we did treatment and she lived 9 months till I put her down. Never felt bad or missed a meal till the day she did not want to go for a walk and we said enough. Don't recommend treatment for anyone else but it gave me more time with her and she was great till the end.

We had a similar story. Our dog wasn't feeling well, took to vet, vet did surgery and removed a tumor on the spleen, but also part of the liver. Gave her 30 days to 2 years.
Came home from work about 30 days later and she was sitting in the yard and didn't come when I walked in. Tried to give her food, wouldn't even sniff it.
Called vet, took her in, and she was bleeding internally. It was over.
Called the wife, she came over and we cried and held her as the doc gave her the shot. Great dog, and I wanted to be holding her when she passed.
