Last three jobs I’ve had:
1.) Recruited by my former Boss in #3 below.
2.) Started my own business (which I still run today) just before Job #3 came open.
3.) Reached out to my current Boss and asked which metal fence I needed to chew through in order to get a job working for them.
Number 3 was pure assertiveness. I had no true knowledge of the job but was eager to learn and wanted the opportunity when others who were more experienced shied away.
Number 2 was that and a combination of boredom and vision to know money could be made doing it that others were leaving on the table.
Number 1 was after building a reputation at Number 3 that got all the way back to my Boss who had left for bigger and better after I got on. Had no intent on leaving or doing anything other than moving upward in my organization. Being courted like that professionally is an incredibly gratifying feeling when you aren’t expecting it.
As an aside, the current job has been the most humbling, frustrating and rewarding experience of my life. Even beyond owning my own bidness.

With my gender studies degree from a private college that cost $30,000 per semester. Now I’m stuck paying over $200,000 in student debt that I’ll
never be able to pay off, so everyone that makes money should have to pay my student debt for my stupid decision

After grad school I was having a hard time getting hired. My Uncle recommended I reach out to his college roommate (who I have known my whole life). He offered me an entry level role and I moved up pretty quickly.
My current role, one of my best friends works for the company in Seattle and sent me the job posting, said I would be a good fit. I applied and got the job.

The in-house company recruiter had been calling
Me for 4 years. I finally listened and look a position with them. It has paid off well for me.

Worked on a project team. Current boss was on that team. When the project was over they asked if I wanted to jump ship. Offered no employees reporting to me, work from home ( prev. commute was an hour), raise and better bonus structure. Didn’t think twice.

I was recruited of sorts.
Work hard, be consistent, and demonstrate results, and they come to you.

I had experience, but actually met the person at a bar, also. 11 years ago, now.

I’m a VP at my company. I honestly never got a job by ‘knowing a guy that got me in. I’ve worked for 5 corporations in 20 years all receiving a minimum of one promotion while with each and promotions while transitioning.
Once you become respected in your industry people seek you out. My current company, and the one prior sought me out at times I wasn’t even looking.

I was picking up trash on the side of the road (court ordered). Starting talking to the guy next to me and told him I wanted to get into commercial construction. He referred me to a local GC here in BR and I worked with them for 3 years.
Happy gameday, Geaux Tigers!

You’re never going to hear from this guy again. Either he was drunk and f’ing with you or drunk and has no memory of who you are this morning.
