We had one growing up. I'm one of 5 kids and they were great for road trips.

We'd turn the captains chairs around and play board games on the table while mom and dad passive aggresively argued about my dad's driving and other things.

Did you ever check out the Nissan NV 3500. So much more practical than the stupid suv designs.

Don’t like at the prices of them now. They’re no cheaper than a luxury SUV - talking about the kitted out ones, not your basic plumber’s work van with 2 seats and not much else.

Wife and I are trying to decide between a Honda Odyssey (~$50k) and Expedition Max (~$65k) right now. The Odyssey is unexpectedly less safe and less reliable from everything I’ve read, it’s also not as roomy for cargo. I’d kill for one of these conversion vans right about now.

Have you looked at the Carnival? Been doing research and that's my next goal. It has more SUV/old van styling than the pointy egg shaped minivan without sacrificing the room.

It will be a while before I can afford it but it's more affordable than the equivalents in the other makes, plus a much better warranty.

I love my sienna and I'm gonna keep it and I'm gonna keep it but eventually I need to upgrade and even though my next was gonna be another sienna the Carnival won me over with the value for my buck. The safety options are incredible, especially on the higher trim packages.

There's this whole HUD mode that shows you the position of all the vehicles and hazards around you, it's wild.

It does everything it can to stop you from getting into an accident, like a guardian angel. And with kids that will be driving teens before I know it, that's incredibly important to me. The whole "an ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure." Rings true.

Spending a bit more for safety features now is gonna save me a lot more on insurance and repairs and medical bills later, by my ken.

A three and one year old vehicle should be reliable.

My aunt and uncle had a 1984 Ford Econoline....navy blue with tan stripes down the side. They had the limo boomerang antenna with a tv. Also had a CB radio and a mini cooler. The interior was plush navy blue with tan stitching. My cousins and I used to have a great time on the way to orange beach.

My dad had a Ford Quadravan with a 454 growing up. We were into motocross and used it to camp out many weekends at many trail sites and motocross tracks across south Louisiana and Texas. Good times.

Every single guy in the 70’s that owned one bought it for one thing. And if the van was nice enough, they got it.

They still sell them.

Mercedes sells the sprinter vans. They are just expensive.

We created a van club and would caravan to campsites.

CJ Radios were the way we stayed connected.

I was actually looking a modern conversion van for the family earlier today. Like this but with a bench seat for the 3rd row.

Growing up, my best friend’s dad was the preeminent cardiovascular surgeon in K.C.. He’s fleet of vehicles consisted of a Jaguar, a Porsche, a Benz, and this bad MFer rightchre

Needless to say, I cannot recall a single occasion where I saw him behind the wheel. But his sons and his sons’s friends loved that beautiful pimp mobile, those were the days
