re: How did Israel pull off the pager attack?

Just goes to show you that all the tech companies are really just fronts for CIA and/or Mossad.
The Arabs are fricked, thougj. They have no one they can buy tech from. It's all CIA/Mossad compromised. (By the way, that goes for all of our devices. There's firmware backdoors in all our phones that only NSA can access).

Had to be a detonator and payload of some kind involved.
I mean, even if you hacked the pagers wiring, there is no way the batteries blew up like that and it all happened simultaneously, absent explosives.

Never forget Israel is the original God’s chosen people. They suffer many calamities, but they seemingly pull the periodic miracle to endure and save the world.

That's not the point. The point is every battery exploded just like a bomb. Lithium batteries don't reliantly just explode in that manner. Usually the "explosion" is them melting down and catching fire.
Plus, the battery in a pager is small compared to the explosion sizes. In one video the dude's hand was blown off like he was holding onto a firework. Lithium batteries the size of one in a pager isn't doing that kind of damage

Not really... when you consider everyone in the country a enemy... doesn't matter who gets the pager
They probably just started manufacturing pagers that were sold below market value... made the enemy think they were getting a deal

It wasn't the batteries. They placed an explosive compound in the devices, sent a signal to the device causing the batteries to heat up, leading to the detonation of the explosive compound.

The Mossad put was essentially Semtex in there. It's heat reactant. Battery gets hot = one less jihadist a-hole.

Yeah I asked earlier and got no response. But is 20g of PETN (the alleged compound and amount they used that is the explosive in Semtex) enough to cause the size explosions we saw in this?

That's pretty wild. I did some reading on it and it says it is one of the most powerful explosive materials used. 20 grams just isn't a whole lot and some of the footage I've seen were impressive explosions for something that size.

I would assume they somehow got ahold of the pager shipments and did something to their firmware to make them vulnerable to this

Promise you this is equally possible with cell phones.
It absolutely is. They build safeguards into devices to ensure the battery isn't overloaded but if you had access to the device and manually disabled those safeguards and actually built in a backdoor way to intentionally overload it you easily could.

28g to an ounce or so, right, so basically 3/4 ounce or less.
Sweet operation.

I wouldn’t want to be the company that built these pagers
These crazy hezbollah people are probably coming for them next

According to Wikipedia, only 340 grams of Semtex were used to bring down Pan Am 103 (a Boeing 747) over Lockerbie, Scotland. If so, it seems that 20 grams would be plenty to blow off a hand

I suspect they rigged multiple shipments and collected the phone records.
They know who’s at the top of the pyramid, but not the foot soldiers. They triggered the pagers of everyone that hierarchy contacts, and effectively tattooed all the foot soldiers.
I bet there’s a bunch of hot pagers still out there, and wouldn’t recommend buying any new in box pagers on eBay.

I suspect a generous anonymous donor sent them a pallet of secure pagers.

They inserted explosives. It wasn't a "cyber hack" where they just somehow made batteries explode.
Right, that would be some computer magic out of a movie.

I have been wondering that myself ever since I heard the story.
