How did all these telemarketers get our cell numbers?

Yeah it's very frustrating when using a business cell and you need to answer. Sometimes 75% of calls are fake and all are now using local numbers.

Pretty sure you can go to your state's sec of state and pay a nominal fee and get the number you registered to vote with. If you want off you have to contact them at the state to remove your number

put your numbers on the do not call registry online. then report every number that calls you.

I think when retail stores ask for numbers they sell them. I always say unlisted.

If you ever want to get back at someone for something, just do one of the online insurance searches under their phone number. They will get multiple calls per day for years.

also: if you type a random number that calls you into any net search engine; you can see if it is a scam or telemarketer.

I've mentioned in previous threads that I installed Truecaller on Android and it's great. Pretty legit caller ID program that uses public records and user votes to give you an individual's name and/or a spam notification. It's free. Highly recommend it.

I used to call the Jehovah's Witness people and give them my friends addresses asking them to come by and "save me." I would always add that they needed to be persistent as the Devil was in my soul.

They spam numbers with your area code and first three digits to make it more likely for you to pick up. They are scum.
