Who claimed its 100% effective?

a lot more than 5000 people have been vaccinated
Right from the article in the OP....
quote:
People should keep in mind that the 246 breakthrough cases occurred among the more than 1.8 million Michiganders who are fully vaccinated, he said.
“That breaks down to 0.0144% of those who have gotten the vaccine have come down with a breakthrough infection,” Thomas said. “So that means that the vaccine is 99.99% effective in preventing infection.”

Because of Math? Also 3 deaths seem small right?
3/246 = 1.2% CFR. That's very close to the overall CFR.

1.2% death rate among vaccinated people. Same death rate or even higher than pre-vaccine. hmmm

246 out of how many million? Seriously, does this number even approach 0.01%?

I think I read over 2 million people have been fully vaccinated in Michigan.

The vaccines don't claim to be 100% effective
If I recall the J&J vaccine is only in the neighborhood of 75% effective. While the Pfizer and Moderna are in the 95-98% range.
Very, very good at protecting people, but not magic bullet.

This is making the assumption that 100% of fully vaccinated people have been exposed to COVID. And there's no way to know how many have actually been exposed since being vaccinated.

Pretty consistent in my opposition to making this a religious fervor on one side or the other. Truth is, I may yet get the vaccine, and I may not, but I would like to have ALL the information in front of me before I pull the trigger. I would think that most people would as well, but it seems as if this has taken legs as a religious adherence more than just a vaccine, most probably because those who’ve already gotten it have bought into it and don’t want to hear anything to bring it into question.

Seems to lend credence to the idea these infections were before full vaccination.

It’s also possible (likely) these are JNJ vaccines which are only 72% effective.
Some people are immunosupressed, when you are looking at hunderds of people out of millions it is something you have to consider. Vaccine effectiveness hasn't really been studied in this group.

you seem to gravitate towards misleading or pure fear mongering information, like the OP

I don’t believe you.
When are you going to feel like that’s happened? When will you have all of the information? You sound like you’re waiting for enough negative news to come out to justify the decision you’ve already made.

Sure did. I haven’t joined the religion yet because I’m not sure I’m a believer.

if it's 95% effective that means 5% (or 1 in 20) can still get infected. 246 per 5000 people vaccinated is right at that 5%
Efficacy does not equal effectiveness FYI.
Way less than 1 in 20 are at risk of COVID after receiving the vaccines.
