I just activated a new credit card and don't want to throw the old one away until I know the new one works. Is there any way to tell other than going out and buying something?

You can call customer service who should be able to tell you.

Just carry both until you need to use it.

Or go fill up your tank. You gotta do that anyway.

this is probably what I will do....just trying to avoid carrying both in my wallet for months before I realize that I never threw the old one away.

Call customer service. Or don't. You could always try using the new card to see if it works. Unless you live in a coffin, you should have room to store the old one briefly.

That's usually the first thing that thieves do when they steal your credit card info. Once they know the number is valid, they go for the Big ticket items.

That would be more convenient than starting this thread.

When you called to activate it, or through the website, they tell you, "Your card is now activated".

As for the old card, cut it.. And while we are at it, when you get noises from you stomach and feel weak, that means it is time to eat.

Sometimes I wonder if some OT posters would make it through life w/o the OT.

excellent point...my damn stomach is gurgling, so I may go out and buy some food to test out the credit card....thanks Ray!

this website is the bestest...without it, I would spend even more of my time beating off.

Is this some sort of OCD thing, where you're unsure if you did the thing you just did? If so, you have my sympathies.

That's what activating the new card accomplished. Just like they told you.
