You can get very nice SUV, plenty for a family of 4, for 20 or so less. Wat?

According to Autotrader App there are 1500 or so new SUVs from 10 different manufacturers available within 50 miles of my home.

Live it with love brother. Wife and I barely clear 100k with 3 kids, granted one is now grown. We don't have a lot but got each other, pay minimal bills we have to pay. Everyday is a vacation, even at work.

Eta: Each other is a lot

Tightening the belt, student loans kicking in have made it a little tight.

Yep.

However, I’ll say this, my wife and I have two children and aren’t making a whole lot more than we were prior to us having kids. We got married in November 2019 and were pregnant with our first by April 2020. We’ve never had more money than we have now. Kids have a funny way of making you better with money.

I make a tad north of $100k and single (no kids). Live in MS. No student loans. Rental properties slowly getting paid off is gravy.

How much are your student loan payments each month? More than $500? $1000?

We've had a serious Want vs Need problem in this country for a long, long time now. When times get lean people have a way of figuring out the difference between the two. Some figure it out the easy way, others take the hard way.
Bottom line.

I have co-workers that have bills like this. It’s morons on month to month variable rate plans in my experience. Not saying that’s what this person has, but that is what I’ve experienced.

These baws say they had outrageous bills during the freeze events in Texas and were bailed out by the state government for the rates skyrocketing. So they just stay with it and if the rates go insane again they believe the government will bail out any excess fees.

Cut expenses, I bet everyone has expenses that they could cut back.

I agree with the laugh. I also basically posted a Bon Jovi song without meaning to.

I did mean my post though and each other is a lot

It's really insane. The grocery trips, electric bills, etc. We're in a place to reasonably afford things (we're older), but still trimming the fat big time.

We're also very seriously talking to our kids about considering community college for some of their work.

Both BRCC and River Parishes CC are roughly $2k for 15 hours. That's the biggest bargain on the planet right now. This is not the economic environment to go graduating with massive student loan debt.

I’ve found several recipes that are lower cost than others. For now, pork chops are pretty inexpensive. Bought 6 thick cut bone in pork chops for $14 at a local butcher. Just over $2 a chop. We eat protein and vegetables for dinner mostly.

Groceries are ridiculous I’d say beef ooand chicken have doubled. We make dishes that we can stretch out into multiple meals. Pork is the most affordable. Fast food is ridiculous, we’ve cut way back. How can anyone vote for this crap?
