I have a real door bell on my front door and my dog goes ape shite whenever it rings

I hear the exact same door bell watching a tv show or movie and the dog doesn’t even flinch. How can they tell the difference when they sound the exact same?

Dogs are really smart these days

NO!

I hate advertisers for setting the dogs crazy.

I am to the point where advertisers who use doorbells are winding up on my do not shop / buy list.

I would go farther to say my hound mutts can sense a squirrel or chipmunk as far off as a block. They can smell they dog park from at least a quarter mile no matter what direction I arrive from. They can sense / smell any bug in the house and go on full alert (usually 4 am).

Yet they still must stick their very sensitive sniffers right in another dogs butt. To add insult to injury they want to lick my face right afterwards.

Mine don’t. Nor can they tell the difference in real and TV dogs.

My dogs are cute but dumb as hell.

Same here. Sometimes they go ape shite if someone on TV just says “hello”.

Dogs are wired differently than us. They were bred to protect. You don't think they know the difference between a TV sound and a sound in their own home? Dogs know if someone if trustworthy or not. They have the 6th sense. Everyone should own a dog.

Mine starts barking if someone knocks a door on TV.

Meanwhile she doesn't even twitch an ear if a dog barks on a show.

This is true.

My dogs are smart, just hardheaded

About 2 hours before am an feeding time is when they pretend to care about me. I get a slight breather when the time changes for maybe a week before they adjust.

Our Aussie had a "bark first, sort it out later" policy.

My dog fell for it a couple of times... But I did have a dog that would come running in the room when The Andy Griffith show whistle would start... He was all bristled and pissed and I have no idea why he was pissed...

Saw a video on IG of the Tampa Bay Rays playing doorbells over the loudspeakers at their dog night promotion. Barking all over the stadium ensued.

Mine can't hear a door bell (real or TV) outside, so I wouldn't know.

You’re giving your dogs way too much credit tbh
